CD Projekt Red has released the launch trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. The first expansion for the action role-playing game, which will also be the last. The story focuses on the main character Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba.
Cyberpunk 2077 is really picking up speed in its final life cycle. For many fans, as of last week, the game is finally as it should have been from the start. With the enormously extensive update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077, the developers have expanded the game to include a lot of functions, systems and mechanics and have given some parts a real overhaul. Now Phantom Liberty is set to hit the market and CD Projekt Red is giving fans a taste of what the paid expansion has to offer.
Launch trailer reinforces Phantom Liberty's story
The official launch trailer focuses on the story of the expansion: The approximately one and a half minute video shows various characters that were seen in the base game - but at its core it is also about Solomon Reed. The new character will be played by famous actor Idris Elba. Reed wasn't found in the vanilla version of Cyberpunk 2077, which makes Phantom Liberty a highlight in terms of story.
In addition to introducing the characters, the trailer also gives fans a glimpse of the improved visuals and new environments that can be explored. Ultimately, the video doesn't reveal much about Phantom Liberty, but it will shorten the wait for fans a little.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be released on September 26th. Unlike the base game, Phantom Liberty will only be available to download and play on current generation hardware, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
At its core, it's more or less a classic espionage and agent story, but processed against the background of a cyberpunk setting and with corresponding influences. Players infiltrate Dogtown, a city within a city. Militias rule there and it is up to the player, together with Solomon Reed and with the help of Johnny Silverhand, to untangle a spider web of deceit and betrayal.
