Time of Desolation takes place 100 years before Breath of the Wild
Hyrule Warriors: Time of Desolation tells the story of what happened before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This is not surprising, after all, information about the reasons for the deep darkness in Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not available or at most sparse. Memories of the disaster pop up every now and then, but the rest remains a mystery - until November 20th.

Nintendo confirms what is obvious: Hyrule Warriors is heavily inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but not just visually. The heroes of the adventure are familiar faces, including Link and Zelda. The action-packed experience should be familiar to all fans of Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors: At well-known locations of Hyrule, which they are now getting to know for the first time before their destruction, players plunge into battles against hordes of opponents. The game is fast-paced and requires strategic skill. The focus is on linking combos and on the well-timed use of special maneuvers.
The action in Hyrule Warriors: Time of Desolation is part of a storyline. Players immerse themselves in a backstory that depicts the events, context, and drama of the Great Devastation. In addition, players have to solve tricky puzzles, unlock weapons and skills, process collected materials or go shopping in shops.

The first spin-off of “Hyrule Warriors” was released in 2014, then for Wii U. Four years later, the brand made the jump to the Nintendo Switch. Where the characters and plot are similar, the gameplay is much faster than the more leisurely action role-playing game.
