What rivalries mean on the soccer field works wonderfully in the games industry: Germany and Holland become partners. As the organizers have now announced, the Netherlands is the official partner country of the Gamescom 2019. Koelnmesse GmbH, game – Association of the German Games Industry and the Dutch Games Association agreed on a partnership to this end. With Holland, a growing games market was gained as a partner country, which is also home to a wide variety of games developers: from indie studios to serious games specialists to producers of international blockbusters. There are also a particularly large number of eSports fans among the Dutch. This makes Holland an ideal fit for Gamescom 2019, both in terms of market potential and the thematic industry focus. As a partner country, Holland will represent the international exhibitors from August 20 to 24, 2019 at Europe's leading business platform for the games industry.
More than 20 Dutch companies are guests
A total of more than 20 companies will be represented at the Dutch pavilion in the business area (Hall 4.1, Stand A65 / B70). The joint stand will include a diverse delegation of companies and thus reflect the broad landscape of the Dutch games industry. In addition to well-known industry companies from Holland, indies and start-ups as well as other developers and publishers are also represented.
“I am delighted that there is a very special partner country for gamescom 2019 in Holland. Whether as an exhibitor or visitor: Holland, as our neighboring country, has always been very present at gamescom. We want to continue to build on this this year and hope to welcome even more visitors from our neighboring country in the business and entertainment area, at devcom or at the gamescom city festival.”
Felix Falk, managing director of game
The Dutch games industry consists of more than 600 companies. Games for the entertainment sector as well as applied and serious games are part of the comprehensive range of products on offer in the computer game market. In addition, the market is characterized by a strong development of indie games and indie talent. Holland has been represented at gamescom with a joint stand since 2009. Between 2009 and 2018, the area of the joint stand increased by almost 300 percent and the number of participating companies increased by 37 percent.
“The Dutch gaming landscape is characterized by hundreds of studios combined with larger, internationally well-established companies. The Netherlands offers a healthy work climate that encourages creativity and originality by providing just the right mix of independence and support. For Dutch game developers, gamescom is the most important international event of all and we are therefore very pleased that Holland is the partner country of gamescom 2019. The impact and influence of the fair offers Dutch companies a podium for our further development beyond professionally organized opportunities. Here we can meet a lot of playful minds and get things moving together – in 'the Dutch way'”.
