New challenges, new setting, new village romance: In September, Dorfromantik – Sakura, another independent successor to the Game of the Year 2023, will be released at Pegasus Spiele With a new campaign and new game elements, it returns to its roots as a cooperative board game after Dorfromantik – Das Duell.
Everything looks somehow familiar, but at the same time completely different: no wheat fields, no train tracks, no brick houses. Instead, players in Dorfromantik - Sakura create a landscape of rice fields, streets, temples and cherry trees, because in the standalone successor to the Game of the Year 2023, Dorfromantik - The Board Game, the game designers Michael Palm and Lukas Zach transport players to the idyllic landscape of Japan this time.
Basic gameplay remains the same
The game principle is the same as in its successful predecessor: together, the players lay out a picturesque landscape from hexagonal tiles and also take into account the wishes of the population, which they receive by uncovering order tiles. Points are collected through completed orders, particularly long roads and rivers, and flags placed in closed areas, which unlock new achievements and thus new game material.
But Dorfromantik – Sakura is not just Dorfromantik – The board game in a new guise. The cooperative placement game comes with a total of 6 secret boxes and more than 40 unlockable achievements. These include, for example, the all-round and double orders already known from Dorfromantik – The Duel, but also numerous new special tiles and a completely new element: the cherry blossoms. On the one hand, these bring additional points, but can also be used as currency to advance on the progress tree or to activate special tiles and success cards. Dorfromantik – Sakura offers plenty of familiar fun but also many new challenges for up to six aspiring landscape architects aged ten and over. There is also a solo mode again.
The world of Dorfromantik continues to grow. In addition to the first game in the series, Dorfromantik - The Board Game, which was awarded Game of the Year 2023, a standalone competitive version and two mini expansions have already been released. Dorfromantik - Sakura is available at a RRP of 39,99 euros.
