The dungeon crawler classic HeroQuest still has an almost magnetic attraction – not least thanks to the new edition, which Hasbro has now been enriched with content through many expansions. For those who found the entry too expensive: "The Departure" is a new version of HeroQuest especially for beginners.
About the platform Hasbro Pulse fans can pre-order the new version of HeroQuest. Hasbro is there, the board game should be ready for shipping from the beginning of February. The departure, as the box, which costs around 45 euros, contains everything beginners need to experience their first adventures in the dungeons.
Game concept remains unchanged
With the new box, which has been stripped down in terms of material, Hasbro is closing a gap under the Avalon Hill brand: Anyone who wanted to try out HeroQuest previously had to shell out around 100 euros. The new version now costs just under half that. This makes it much cheaper to get started - but the gameplay remains the same. HeroQuest - The Departure is based on a semi-cooperative process in which a group of heroes, in the hands of one or more players, encounters the villain Zargon, who is also controlled by a player. The Dungeon Master can also be dispensed with; an app then takes over. Groups of players can also try their hand at the adventures of HeroQuest in a fully cooperative manner.
HeroQuest is not particularly complex even in the basic version, but the purchase price is a big hurdle for casual players. Hasbro now wants to reach a new target group with the new product. It includes a two-sided game board that develops with each dungeon. Ten missions must be completed as part of the campaign.
Of course, you can also create your own adventures with the new set, so that the inexpensive entry into HeroQuest can certainly ensure longer gaming fun. Among the more than 100 components included are a detailed dragon miniature, four hero miniatures and 67 full-color cardboard standees.
If you like the board game, you can then use all the available expansions. The packages available in stores are also compatible with the slimmed down version of HeroQuest.
