The German version of the board game The Rattlesnake was supposed to be released by Heidelbär Games in April. For now, the subjunctive remains: the title is delayed, as the publisher announced.
Game fans who were hoping for short-term adventures involving Snake Plissken and co. will have to be patient. The board game Escape from New York, an adaptation of the film of the same name, is coming onto the market with some delay. Not without reason, as Heidelbär Games explains: "Unfortunately, we now have to announce that the release of the game has been postponed until mid-May due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East," writes the publisher.
transport problem due to Middle East conflict
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has led to "repeated attacks on ships". Some container ships are therefore avoiding the passage through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Instead, the ships are taking a much longer route via the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa.
According to Heidelbär Games, the delays caused by the route changes are between 7 and 20 days. The board game could therefore be available as early as May.
The title is based on the film of the same name, lets game fans slip into the roles of Snake Plissken, Brain, Maggie and Cabbie and offers a semi-cooperative process. The original board game comes from Pendragon Games (among others The Thing) and was financed through crowdfunding.
The story: The President's plane crashed in Manhattan. The players must find and rescue the head of state. Everyone starts the mission together, but in addition to the group goal, they each have an individual game goal.
