The publisher Heidelbär Games has announced a German version of Holy Grail Games' board game Rallyman GT. And not only that: the extensions will also be available in a localized edition. Release is planned for the fourth quarter of 2022.
The fast-paced racing game Rallyman: GT by Jean-Christophe Bouvier will be published by Heidelbär Games for the first time in German at the end of 2022, the publisher has announced. The board game will be a revised version of the Rallyman released by Holy Grail Games in 2009 and will offer, among other things, a modular game board for even more variety. Six expansions (with new cars and new track parts) will also be released at the same time as the base game.
Racing game with dice
Rallyman GT is about tactical races, where the racing feeling is supposed to come up by means of a dice laying mechanism. It is a thematically well implemented board game for up to six players aged 14 and over. With the help of various dice actions, strategically clever racing maneuvers can be brought to the board game table: pass the opponent, block curves, push other cars away - you can tactic in your turn almost at will.
The idea has its price: with a full cast, a game can last a very long time. This does not detract from the fun of the game, at least for racing fans. Rallyman GT is one of the very few representatives of the racing board game genre, but it does a good job. The expansions in particular make it fun: the modular game board parts can be used to set up routes based on real models on the table. Various game modes - including a time trial - complete the package. If you wish, you can use a companion app that, among other things, facilitates the game setup.
Despite the racing theme, Rallyman GT is not a fast-paced board game, but rather a tactical board game that focuses on clever dice-laying actions. In classic mode, the player who crosses the finish line first wins. Every train is about balancing risk and safety. If you drive offensively, you can get a lead, but you run the risk of flying off the track. A central highlight of the game: the routes can be assembled – prefabricated or self-invented – variably and in compliance with different rules of difficulty.
In 2020, the game was nominated for the Board Game Quest Awards in the Best Themed Game and Game of the Year categories. According to Heidelbär Games, Rallyman: GT will be available both online and in specialist shops. At the end of 2022, Rallyman GT will be launched in German along with the six expansions.
