Giant Roc wants to make a second edition of Hegemony possible. The project currently underway at the game studio should ultimately make this a reality.
Hegemony was very successful in its first edition. But will this success be enough for a second edition? That is still uncertain, because the campaign in the game studio to finance the new edition has got off to a good start, but has not yet reached its goal of 42.000 euros. Around 250 fans have already raised almost half of the necessary sum, and there is still time until June 24th to decide.
Hegemony is …especially
The fact that the funding campaign for the second edition of the asymmetrical board game – the term is to be taken literally here – is not going full steam ahead is most likely due to the game itself: Hegemony has taken the idea of board games with different game goals to a new level. The rules are long and detailed, sometimes cumbersome. It takes a few games and a lot of motivation to really get behind the idea of the authors Vangelis Bagiartakis and Varnavas Timotheou. In short: You have to get involved with Hegemony, you have to actually want to play this board game – otherwise nothing will work.
Once you have overcome the high entry hurdles, you are rewarded with a complex political game for experts, in which up to four game fans take control of four social groups: workers, the middle class, capitalists and the state. The subtitle "Lead your class to victory" also determines the goal of the game. The aim is to lead your chosen class to success.
The second edition of Hegemony is to be financed in the games forge. According to the publisher, this is basically unchanged. However, there is one shocking moment: some rule adjustments have been made - the rule book has become four pages longer.
