Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed - Ecto Edition, the 4v1 action game from asymmetric multiplayer games experts IllFonic, is coming to the Switch family this year. The game will be available on the My Nintendo Store.
A physical version of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed - Ecto Edition will also be released in cooperation with Nighthawk Interactive. Ghostbusters and Nintendo fans will have the opportunity to team up with or compete against users on the PC/Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One - the title is seamless across all platforms playable across.
The team has been working hard to adapt the game for the Switch. It runs in a dynamic resolution between 720 (handheld mode) and a maximum of 1080p and 30 fps (industry standard for the Switch). IllFonic is continuously refining the game to push it to its limits. More information on Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for Switch will follow later this year.
Developers bring game to new audience
IllFonic's Technical Vice President, Chance Lyon, notes, “As a gamer, I wanted this to be something I could be proud of and can't wait to play. The game will feel very familiar, similar to the other platforms, it's a high quality port. Most importantly, I look forward to playing the game with my daughter, who is exclusively active on the Switch."

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddermore open the fire station to the next generation of ghostbusters. The asymmetrical hide-and-seek game is based on a 4v1 setup where the player acts either as part of the new Ghostbusters or as a ghost. The title not only allows you to experience the action alone or with up to four friends, but also offers both online and offline single player mode in the form of an AI-supported gameplay.
More importantly, the more you play, the more you learn about the story (with cutscenes). Those who are already playing will be pleased to know that the story will be expanded as part of the Ecto Edition, coming later this year. Whether haunted or hunted, the game is easy to learn and fun to master.
From the proton backpack to the PKE meters to the spirit traps, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed features all the iconic gear and gadgets that fans have come to expect. Also, many fans will recognize the Fire Station and Ray's Occult Books that serve as hubs in the game. There the games fan can choose his missions, customize his character, train with the particle launchers and explore everything there is to learn. The story unfolds itself as the game progresses. Players follow Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddermore's request to unlock cutscenes that tell an exciting story.

Ghosts have multiple abilities such as possessing objects, of course sliming, and more. So it's great fun to haunt the different locations.
There are five spirits to choose from, each with unique skills, ultimate powers, and exemplary ectoplasm-powered minions. As a ghost, the player flies around public scenes and takes on a huge number of inanimate objects in order to shake off the ghost hunters who are looking for him. He scares the townspeople into panicking enough to flee, pulls nasty pranks on unsuspecting ghostbusters, and hides his rifts to safely return should he be trapped.

Players take on the role of one of four ghost hunters equipped with proton backpacks and try to capture a ghost haunting unique locations with their traps and tools. He uses the PKE meter to locate the rifts that serve as the ghosts' return point, and uses his particle launcher to destroy them before the ghosts can end their haunting. As you progress, you'll unlock cosmetic items and upgrades for both the Ghostbusters and Ghosts to evolve the gameplay and live out your Ghostbusting fantasies.
