Since the founding of the "Gamecity Hamburg" project, Hamburg has long since become a German gaming stronghold. Now the northern German city is also getting its own games festival. On August 23rd and 24th, everything revolves around video games, e-sports and game development at the "Gamevention" in the Hamburg trade fair. The organizers are expecting around 10.000 visitors at the opening event.
Together with developers, e-athletes, Let's.players and cosplayers, the new Hamburg Games Festival is to become a hotspot for the scene. With the game event in the Hamburg exhibition halls, the organizers want to create a meeting place on November 23-24, 2019. Compared to classic games fairs, at which new products are presented, the gamevention should focus on the communities of the players. A pure business day will take place on November 22nd.
A trade fair by games experts
The Hamburg Games Fair should consist of three essential building blocks. The gaming area invites you to play and participate. The fans can look forward to well-known blockbusters and the latest indie games. You can play to your heart's content - without long waiting times at the game stations, according to the organizers. A colorful stage program with show acts and discussion rounds and the "streaming corner" invite you to linger.
Visitors who want to turn their hobby into a career also have the opportunity to meet potential employers.
Organizer of the game event
It will certainly be loud in the e-sports area, the "Colosseum" at the game event. The stage for the competitions is the HyperX esports truck. The US truck, which is around 20 meters long, is packed with modern technology. Among other things, a commentator's booth and a specially designed control room for live broadcasts. There is space for up to 55 play stations and XXL monitors on the 24 square meter stage. Here professional e-athletes from all over the world compete against each other. This area is supplemented by an exhibition area and coaching offers for visitors.
The "Culture Area" will be colorful and diverse. Cosplayers meet there on the catwalk – and for the big contest. Manga artists and creative people invite you to workshops and influencers ask the scene to “meet and greet”. Historically, it will also be exciting: A retro journey takes you back to the beginnings of gaming.
The organizer of the new scene fair is Weloveesports GmbH from Hamburg. The team around managing director Oliver Welling includes makers from the games industry as well as experts from the areas of trade fair planning and event management.
Advance ticket sales will start in August 2019 www.gamevention.de. The day ticket is available for 22 euros, the weekend ticket for both festival days costs 32 euros. Participation is possible from the age of 16.
