Attention indie fans, Gamescom is expanding the segment of the booming branch. Gamescom - this year from August 20th to 24th - strengthens the sales team: With Johannes Brauckmann, a well-known expert on the scene takes over the newly created position of "Sales Manager Exhibitor Indie".
A connoisseur of the scene
Brauckmann will take up his position on February 11, 2019. With the election of the 44-year-old as "Indie Manager" in the Koelnmesse sales team at gamescom, Koelnmesse and game – the Association of the German Games Industry, are underscoring the great importance they attach to the segment. In addition to the integration of indies from Germany and abroad, Brauckmann will also use his many years of experience with independent developers and his existing network to participate conceptually in the expansion of the indie segment at gamescom: An indie area is planned, with a view to offering and "Look & Feel" is integrated into the entertainment area in an eye-catching way.
Johannes Brauckmann is no stranger to the games industry: He is co-founder and managing director of the "Cologne Game House" that opened at the end of June 2018 (information at https://colognegamehaus.com), which shares its premises with the Digital Campus “incube8” of Koelnmesse. Brauckmann will continue to work for the “Cologne Game Haus” as managing director, albeit on a reduced scale. Margret von Medem will be the new contact person for external inquiries as “Head of Cologne Game Haus”. In addition to Johannes Brauckmann as sales manager for Indie exhibitors, Carolin Jansen (née Meister), Mora-Lou Großkopf and Tim Bredow will look after the exhibitors of the Gamescom in the business and entertainment area. The sales team, which now has four members, reports directly to Tim Endres, Director of Gamescom.
The basis for the increased integration of independent developers at the world's largest event for computer and video games is the successful development of the Indie Arena Booth. For six years, the joint stand has been convincing with increasing numbers of participants, strong game developments and increasing interest among visitors to Gamescom.
In 2019, the Indie Arena Booth will again present the largest exhibitor group of independent developers in a joint stand. The existing close cooperation between the Indie Arena Booth, Koelnmesse and the federal association game will be continued and further expanded as part of the indie area.
