Gamescom, the world's largest event for computer and video games, recently announced that it is starting a new show this year: "Gamescom: Opening Night Live" is a new live event, produced by Geoff Keighley, host and producer the "The Game Awards", the annual award show of the international games industry.

"Gamescom: Opening Night Live" will be produced in English and hosted live in front of more than 1.000 fans in Cologne. This gives gamers around the world an overview of what to expect during Gamescom week this year. In the
brand new show, there will be announcements from major publishers and indie developers, world premieres with new images and guest appearances by stars of the international games industry.

Over the past two decades, Geoff Keighley has established himself as the leading producer of programs and events that celebrate video games as the most powerful form of entertainment. He is the creator of "The Game Awards", the annual award show of the international games industry, which was seen online by more than 2018 million viewers around the world in 30. The “The Game Awards” will take place in the course of 2019 for the fifth time. Keighley previously worked as a video game critic for Entertainment Weekly magazine and spent nearly a decade producing and hosting programs for television networks such as G4TV and Viacom Media Networks, where he was responsible for publisher relations for Spike TV.
