Gamescom 2020: Digital trade fair becomes a content bomb

Not so this year: Everything is taking place digitally, on the Internet - via live stream, via podcasts, on blogs and websites, news portals, but also via platforms such as Steam, on which there will be numerous playable demos parallel to Gamescom .

Gamescom 2020: Simply more of everything

Many partners support Gamescom, that has always been the case, but this year it is particularly important. Twitch, YouTube and TikTok are among them, hardly surprising, after all, they are companies that reach millions of fans worldwide. Much can be played via streams in the Corona year 2020. You have to like that, but there is no getting around it if at least a little Gamescom feeling is to arise. And so streamers and media houses bring the content directly to the fans at home.

Fans can experience the show via the Gamescom content hub, including via www.gamescom.de, but also via other channels such as YouTube, Twitch or Facebook. Webedia with its portals Gamestar, Gamescom and Mein-MMO takes over the German-speaking part. The shows "gamescom studio" and "gamescom: Daily Show" will be used as well as the central content hub "Gamescom Now", the contact point of the digital trade fair, from which fans can access all relevant content.

Don't just look, touch it too

Fans are not only condemned to watch at digital Gamescom, passionate gamers can also put their hands on the keyboard, mouse or controller. The well-known gaming platform Steam is also an official partner. In line with the games event, the platform is planning to offer offers and playable demo versions.

“At the end of August, the games community can look forward to the largest digital offering for Gamescom that has ever existed. Never before has Gamescom and its partners produced so much digital content. The companies get the chance to bring their information to the fans. Almost every well-known games group is involved, plus countless independent developers. Gamescom is one of the indispensable events for bringing players and gamers together, especially for small development studios and indie developers. The Indie Booth Arena will therefore be moved to the "Web" this year: broadcasts on games accompany fans from Thursday to Sunday, streamers present selected indie games.
