Already planned as an event of superlatives, Gamescom 2019 is growing significantly again. The organizers at Koelnmesse GmbH have announced that the exhibition space will be around five percent larger this year. The "Entertainment Area" will be supplemented by an event arena, extensive measures are intended to noticeably improve the quality of stay for visitors. The 2019 hall plan is also available online – visitors can now plan their visit to the trade fair.
From August 21st to 24th, "The Heart of Gaming" will be beating again in Cologne: Gamescom, a world-renowned event for computer and video games, will open its doors to gaming fans from all over the world - and this year an additional hall level . As a result, the entertainment trade fair will grow to around 210.000 square meters and thus by around five percent compared to the previous year - in 2018 it was still 201.000 square meters. Some hall areas of the "Entertainment Area" are also to be revised. According to Koelnmesse GmbH, they also want to implement additional measures to improve the quality of stay. Visitors can now find the current hall plan for Gamescom 2019 on the Gamescom website or as a download from us here Link.
Visitor hotspots are straightened out
At peak times it is full on the Gamescom – every year. The organizers have long recognized this and have already implemented measures in previous years to make the stay in the Gamescom exhibition halls as pleasant as possible for visitors from all over the world. This year, a larger area and the elimination of visitor hotspots should significantly improve the quality of the stay.
Other measures include widening the aisles, additional catering and lounge areas for visitors and the newly introduced evening ticket. Overall, the entertainment area comprises the Gamescom 2019 Halls 5 to 10 and 11.3 as well as the outdoor event area (P8).
In the (new) Hall 11.3, the event arena, visitors can expect a special event program that is clearly different from other event areas of the gamescom Further information on the concept and highlights of the event arena will follow in a few days.
Hall 10.2 is occupied by the new indie village, the retro area, the Gamescom campus and the "family & friends" area. The “Merchandise Area”, which has always been a bottleneck at the trade fair in recent years, continues to grow significantly and is located in Hall 5.2 and parts of Hall 5.1. The latter is also the new home of the popular "Cosplay Village", the hall with the highest density of costumes. As usual, visitors will find the “Outdoor Area” on P8 (car park behind Hall 8). The "Business Area", i.e. the trade visitor area, occupies Halls 1 to 4.
"The expansion of the area and the adjustments in the entertainment area are the result of several factors: Firstly, the increasing demand for exhibition space or extensions in the entertainment halls requires additional space for new formats. At the same time, we have set improving the quality of stay for visitors as one of the central goals for 2019 on the agenda and this is exactly what the various measures contribute to. Secondly, it is also the further strengthening of the event character of the Gamescom, which requires additional space and an adjustment of the hall plan. The aim is to offer visitors even more entertainment around the topic of computer and video games and thus give our community an even better Gamescom experience."
Tim Endres, Director Gamescom, Koelnmesse GmbH.
The organizers seem to listen to the visitors' tips - above all, they seem to want to learn from the previous Gamescom years.
“For Gamescom, the Gamescom fans are the focus. That's why we want to make a visit to gamescom much more comfortable and will implement a whole range of measures this year. These include new areas, equalization of visitor hotspots, the evening ticket, wider aisles and additional areas for relaxation. We are reacting to the growing interest of visitors and exhibitors in Gamescom.”
