We are looking forward to the world's largest trade fair for computer and video games, which will take place in Cologne from August 21 to 25, 2018 this year. This not only shifts the fair backwards, but also eliminates the fair Sunday, which is popular with visitors. We have summarized in our following article which innovations are still planned for Gamescom 2018 and what visitors can look forward to in particular.
Families, pre-entry and tickets for school classes: ticket sales are also subject to changes
For Gamescom 2018, the visitor can choose between five ticket variants. Private visitors can choose between a normal day ticket, a ticket for birds that are particularly early, the pre-entry card, with which visitors can gain access to the popular entertainment area an hour before the start of the fair, and a family ticket if the journey with at least two children is between seven and eleven years ago. The gaming fair also offers tickets for trade visitors. The biggest innovation, however, is the ticket for school classes, this is intended to appeal to all students who are not on school holidays at the time of the fair. It appeals to a particularly large target group, because in some federal states there are no holidays during the trade fair. The only condition in order to get the school tickets, which are charged at € 6,50 per person and are therefore particularly cheap, is that at least ten people per school class, including teaching staff, must take part in the excursion.
But the following applies to all card variants: if the contingent is out of stock, the visitor will get nothing on that day. Ordering online is therefore worthwhile for anyone who wants to visit Gamescom 2018 safely.
Update. June 06, 2018:
The organizers of Gamescom 2018 announced that the tickets for Saturday were completely sold out and that only afternoon tickets were available. In the press release it says:
No more private visitor tickets for gamescom Saturday (25.08.2018/XNUMX/XNUMX) available in the online ticket shop - High demand: secure a day ticket for the private visitor days Wednesday, Thursday and Friday now.
As in previous years, afternoon tickets for Saturday will be available on site at gamescom in 2018 (entry from 14 p.m.). Admission depends on the flow of visitors (exits from the site). Waiting times have to be accepted. If you want to experience gamescom for yourself and test numerous premieres live on site, we recommend that you get a gamescom ticket in advance for Wednesday, Thursday or Friday in the online ticket shop.
Gamescom 2018 and do not yet have a ticket, should follow the recommendation. Experience has shown that tickets for the remaining days of the trade fair are also sold out quickly.

Gamescom Rumor Mill 2018: It's seething - we're cooking with you
The rumors about the expected games of the world's largest computer and video game event are unmistakably loud.
There are leaks in the gamer world that make us expect great things for Gamescom 2018. In addition to the MMO giant "The Division 2", the action-packed racing game "The Crew 2" and the open-world adventure game "Watch Dogs 3", new AAA titles from Ubisoft are to be shown.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 2018
There is evidence of a "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 2018". The final installment in the seven-part series (not counting the PSP spin-off Essentials) was Splinter Cell: Blacklist 2013. Players are waiting for something new, and last year Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot said that there were "several concepts" for another game and that one had to decide on a specific concept. In addition, a product page for "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 2018" appears on the Canadian Amazon page that is still sparsely populated. So it's not surprising that we're looking forward to this title.
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
The alleged leak about the new "Assassin's Creed" made the gamer world sit up and take notice. Ubisoft has now confirmed that "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" will be set in ancient Greece and will be officially presented at the approaching E3 2018. The leak also describes that the new Assassin's Creed takes us to the time of the Flavian Dynasty. Rumor has it that there are two playable characters, the return of the naval battles, the brotherhood system, social stealth, the weapon wheel, the smoke bombs and individualizations in the Unity style. In addition, alleged locations on the map are already revealed to us. It should transport us to Achaea, Macedonia, Epirus, the Aegean and Ionian Seas and Asia. The truthfulness of the Reddit voice remains doubtful.
Nintendo
In addition to titles like “Super Smash Bros” for the Nintendo Switch, according to a leak we can expect more surprises from the giant Nintendo. If we believe the leak, in addition to remastered versions of the “Spyro Reignited Trilogy” and “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” there are also “F-Zero SX”, “Fortnite”, “Fallout 3 – Anniversary”, “Yoshi's Flipping Island” waiting. , “Punch Out – Become the Champion” and “Metroid Prime 4”, which could possibly be called “Metroid Prime – Renegade”, are waiting for us.
So far, there have been some rumors about a Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch. A release this year was discussed, and gaming analysts also thought a release at the end of 2018 was possible. Hope for a new Pokémon game at Gamescom 2018 was spreading among fans. Now Nintendo has confirmed the rumors with a trailer for the games "Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!" for the hybrid console Nintendo Switch. The games are designed to be particularly beginner-friendly and a mix of Pokémon Go and the yellow edition with the original 151 Pokémon from the first generation. The release of the two titles is scheduled for November 16, 2018; another classic Pokémon main game has also been announced for the second half of 2019.
Activision Blizzard: Rumors of Diablo 4?
As usual, Blizzard likes it breathtaking and admittedly, we love it!
Blizzard Entertainment stands for Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2 and (who would have expected it) Diablo. These game titles are just waiting to be played extensively by you. As usual, there will also be a spectacular supporting program.
On August 14, exactly one week before Gamescom opens, Blizzard will release the seventh WoW expansion entitled "Battle for Azeroth". Can we expect a first early patch preview? In any case, fans should not expect big surprises for World of Warcraft so soon after the release of the new expansion. Much more exciting is the question of Diablo 4 – or at least a class expansion for Diablo 3. The first indications of a druid expansion were already there at the beginning of the year. In addition, Blizzard seems to be managing the action adventure rather than developing it further. The announcement of a completely new part of the Diablo world would therefore not only be surprising, but a sensation. Blizzard is packing a lot of content from the Diablo universe into the teamfighting game Heroes of the Storm, and skin packs of Diablo icon Deckard Cain and Nephalem have also been released. In addition, there will soon be a far-reaching revision of the game content and further "Nexomania skins". We can't wait to see what awaits us.
Update. June 06, 2018:
The information can sometimes go that fast. With a job advertisement, Blizzard finally confirms what fans have already suspected for a long time: the Californians are working on a new, so far not officially announced title in the Diablo universe.
The job posting for the Dungeon artist says:
"We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled dungeon artist?
Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional."
What exactly it is about cannot be found in the text snippet. It is almost certain that Blizzard will not do without a sequel to the successful Hack & Slay in its classic form - but the Californian game developer has been good for many a surprise in the past. You just don't know what to expect!
The supporting program of Gamescom 2018 in a nutshell
Game is organizing a “Pitch & Match @ gamescom” for the third time.
The “Pitch & Match @ gamescom” is the highlight for game developers at the trade fair. On August 21, 2018, game developers can take part in the “Pitch & Match @ gamescomAccording to the German Games Industry Association, game development teams (from newcomers to experts) can have their current projects examined by publishers in 20-minute pitch sessions, and this is now the third time that they have done so.
