Gamers who previously did not order their Gamescom tickets online can now also buy them from local retailers. As every year, electronics retailer Saturn sells tickets for one of the hottest entertainment fairs in the world in a total of 155 branches. However, if you buy the ticket for Gamescom 2017 in advance, you should note the following important restriction: the tickets bought at Saturn are also non-transferrable because they have to be personalized after purchase via the official Gamescom website.
The tickets include free travel by local public transport and cost between 14 euros (8,50 euros reduced) and 18 euros (12,50 euros reduced). The necessary tickets can be downloaded from the official shop together with the redemption of the vouchers for the gamescom tickets. The admission ticket alone is not a valid ticket.
The partner country of Gamescom 2017 is Canada. This has been announced by Koelnmesse GmbH, the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU) and the Canadian government. This means that creative minds from one of the world's most important locations for video game development will be guests in Cologne in August. Industry information is made available to interested cooperation partners in the Canada Pavilion in particular. The selection of Canada as the partner country of Gamescom 2017 could not have been more appropriate: after all, the Canadians are celebrating the 150th birthday of their homeland. Katharina C. Hamma, Managing Director of Koelnmesse, explains: "With first-class expertise in the development of computer and video games, this year's partner country Canada is a real asset for gamescom and its accompanying events and congresses."
In terms of total production, the Canadian video game industry ranks third behind Japan and the United States.
