Gamegenic presented the new products for the coming months in the accessories segment at the SPIEL'24 in Essen. In addition to the brands Altered and Star Wars Unlimited Tailored products will be particularly useful for those who have to handle large quantities of cards.
Gamegenic is Asmodee's in-house accessories specialist. The young company now supports several brands, especially in the trading card sector, with specially adapted products: fans of Altered, Cardfight!! Vanguard, Arkham Horror - The Card Game, Marvel Champions and Star Wars Unlimited can access deck boxes or sleeves as well as play mats, among others.
News for collectors and players
Depending on the licensed game, Gamegenic offers a portfolio of accessories of varying sizes. The main focus of the house brands is currently on Star Wars Unlimited, but Gamegenic is also working on the new Altered, a beginner-friendly trading card game with a digital twist, and has released its own line of useful tools. For the Equinox trading card game, there is an adventure bar, premium tokens and hero standees made of acrylic, play mats, deck boxes and sorting albums as well as card sleeves - all in the Altered design. If you have a particularly large collection, you can store your treasures in the huge card box called "Cards' Lair Pro 1000+".
The Gamegenic motto also applies to the accessories for Altered: it has to be practical. This is especially true for the Deck Wallet, which offers space for cards and tokens alike – just like the boxes for Star Wars Unlimited The accessories manufacturer is staying true to its line, bringing modern and often innovative products onto the market, the details of which often make a difference. In Altered, this is evident in the standees, tokens and the "Adventure Track" bar: In the otherwise mundane card game, the structures give a sense of a board game experience. This should appeal to beginners in particular, as that is exactly the target group of the new trading card game, which is all about discovery and not about beating up monsters.
So far, Gamegenix has had something new to present at every major trade fair. SPIEL'24 in Essen is no exception: several product lines are being expanded, with the Game Castle There is also a new addition to the portfolio: a combination of a game case and the token silos already established by Gamegenic. The accessories are primarily used to store trading cards and the associated tokens. The inserts can be arranged in different ways and thus also changed. "If you take out all the inlays, you can also use the case to store smaller board games, for example," explains Gamegenic marketing manager Tobias Franken.
The key feature of the Game Castle is that you can customize its function: The case can be used as a pure card box to sort and store the collection in an organized manner, and you can also use the accessories to lug decks and tokens around - the product is expected to be released in late autumn.
Also new is the “Token Silo XL Convertible", an enlarged and revised version of the token storage boxes already available. In addition to the size, the closure is the improvement here: "The Token Silo XL has closures on all four sides," explains Tobias Franken. This detail shows how Gamegenic is gradually optimizing the product design: the pressure is now distributed more evenly, and the lid remains straight. The storage box will be available in stores from October 18th. The RRP is 24.99 euros.
Accessories for Magic the Gathering and Star Wars Unlimited
Gamegenic does not just produce accessories for Asmodee's own brands, but also focuses on the needs of the market: fans of Magic the Gathering will also find various boxes for individual decks as well as for storing cards for multi-deck lovers or card collectors. Presented as a new product at the SPIEl'24, Gamegenic had the "Squire Plus 100+ XL Convertible", a premium deck box for the Magic game deck. In addition, the "Sidekick Pro 100+ XL Convertible“ a similar model, but with an additional token drawer.
Both models are further developments of the basic variants, which had to do without a card slider. With these new products, Gamegenic is focusing directly on the popular Commander format of Magic the Gathering and offering players useful improvements. If you can live without a card window, you will at least get a new color variant for the Squire 100+ XL and Sidekick 100+ XL from December: sand. These two boxes will be available in stores just in time for St. Nicholas Day.
The fact that Gamegenic will continue to closely support Star Wars Unlimited and provide it with accessories was also made clear by SPIEL'24. Accessories boss Adrian Alonso had XXL play mat for the multiplayer format Twin Suns presented, but at the same time emphasized that there is more to come. Because Fantasy Flight Games will also be changing the details of the trading card game from next year, fans could also be in for a few surprises in terms of accessories.
The next step for Gamegenic is to Star Wars Unlimited to roll out the accessories parallel to the release of the third wave of cards. With Fall of the Republic, the more than 250 new cards will be all about the Clone Wars. Gamegenic is breaking out matching deck boxes, sleeves and playmats - just like the previous sets.
