The Adventures of Conan by GaleForce 9 has started crowdfunding on the Gamefound platform. However, anyone who wants to support the adventurous board game will have to dig deep into their pockets.
The preview of the campaign whetted our appetite for the new GaleForce 9 project, which focuses on the most famous barbarian of all time: Conan. With the start of the campaign, it is now clear that The Adventures of Conan is not a particularly cheap pleasure. Anyone hoping for a bargain will probably be disappointed. The rather hesitant start clearly underlines this.
Adventure in Hyboria for up to $280
The impression may have been misleading, but after looking at the preview page, we did not think that The Adventures of Conan was a board game at the upper end of the price range. Now it is clear: Anyone who wants to support the all-round, worry-free package will have to dig deep into their pockets and shell out around 280 US dollars without shipping or taxes. The GameForce 9 campaign is therefore not giving Conan fans a bargain board game. The titles about the famous warrior therefore remain real luxury items.
However, the project does not seem to be a sure-fire success, and the start is certainly going more slowly than expected given the popular license. Over 6.600 fans followed the campaign beforehand, and around three hours after the crowdfunding campaign started, the funding amount was only around 70 percent of the required amount of just 50.000 US dollars. Only around 135 users had been able to bring themselves to support it at that point. Initial comments show that it is mainly the high costs that are preventing fans from supporting the board game. "I love Conan, but I'm completely out. Too expensive for what it is..." writes one user. Others criticize the division of the content into a variety of boxes - with price increases, of course. "The price is exorbitant," says one voice. Others complain that the board game is only to be released in English.
