The publisher Gale Force Nine has announced its plans for upcoming crowdfunding projects on Gamefound. Among them is a new board game about Barbarian Conan and his allies. The focus is on a dice-heavy game concept.
Gale Force Nine says it plans to implement three projects in the next two years. All of the titles are licensed games. Specifically, it is a new edition of the board games Dune and Star Trek: Ascendency, which will be offered as complete packages - albeit with a few new features - including all the sequels that have been released so far. However, the publisher is celebrating the start with a completely new game: The Adventures of Conan.
Adventurous Dice Rolling: Start with Conan
The new crowdfunding season at Gale Force Nine kicks off with adventures in Hyboria, the world of Conan. After Monolith Games launched its crowdfunding campaign for the Conan miniatures game made a powerful landing, one can certainly expect something similar for the game The Adventures of Conan. Ultimately, the barbarian has many fans in Germany too, which is why games based on the stories of Robert E. Howard are so popular and successful. The stories, originally published in the 1930s, are now considered to be the forerunners of fantasy novels.
In The Adventures of Conan, players take on the role of Conan or one of his friends - or they take on the role of the enemy while working towards different goals. The title is therefore an asymmetrical dice game.
While Conan and his troops act together, the opponent must hinder Conan. He can lay traps or place other obstacles on the game board.
The central idea: Each character type in the game has its own set of dice, which ultimately determine which actions a player can perform during their turn.
Gale Force Nine has already posted a Gamefound preview page online, where you can also see a concept image of the board game and some artwork. The campaign will start in April 2024 planned.
