Gamefound: The Witcher is printing millions again

Wherever Witcher Geralt is on it, there are millions in it: The Witcher brand is once again proving to be a strong driving force - this time on the Gamefound platform, where money is to be crowdfunded for a new board game about the witcher and his friends.

The sorcerer is cult – and you can make a lot of money with him. CD projekt has known this for a long time, after all the Witcher series was considered a good backup when it came to sales, even in the difficult early times immediately after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. The Polish games studio had already reported around 50 million copies as a milestone in the early summer of this year. The cyberpunk game is now also proving to be a real sales driver - in combination, the titles ensure that CD Projekt Red can look to the future in a relaxed manner. And what applies to the video game market applies in a similar way to board games.

The Witcher: Path of Destiny successful on Gamefound

The publisher Go on Board is currently using the powers of the sorcerer and collecting a lot of money from the brand's fans. The board game The Witcher: Path of Destiny now has over 21.000 supporters. In US dollars that means: over 1,7 million.

The campaign on Gamefound has just started. And furiously. Since Thursday, board and card game enthusiasts worldwide can take part in the crowdfunding campaign for The Witcher: Path of Destiny. The board game from The Witcher universe is being created in close collaboration with CD Projekt Red.

The two publishers had previously worked together on the board game The Witcher: Old World; This title was also financed in record time. This witcher board game brought a total of 8,5 million euros into the coffers - and became one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns for a board game ever. Following the campaign, the game was released to retailers worldwide in 17 language versions, selling 150.000 copies of the base game and almost double that if you count the expansions.

The Witcher: Path of Destiny is now the new work from Go On Board. The title is tailored for up to five players, but can also be played alone. The board game allows participants to take control of some of the heroes from The Witcher series, such as Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Vesemir and Dandelion.

The focus is on the stories from the Witcher universe. The game uses board- and card-based gameplay, and fans are forced to make decisions again and again - and thus possibly deviate from the planned path in order to explore different scenarios. Path of Destiny combines various mechanics, including hand management, and requires strategic thinking. The board game is intended to offer a “completely new experience within the The Witcher series”.

Im A standard version of the game and a deluxe version are available as part of the campaign. The latter contains all the content included in the standard edition as well as everything unlocked during the crowdfunding campaign and exclusive goodies.
