Game of Thrones is now available as a digital board game for PC. This means that one of Fantasy Flight Games' most successful strategic titles has made the leap into official online distribution via Valve's Steam platform. As in the physical template, fans in the digital board game control the fortunes of one of the six houses of Westeros and fight for the throne. In the release week, the video game Game of Thrones: The Board Game is available at a discounted price.

Lannister, Stark, Greyjoy, Martell, Tyrell or Baratheon - one of these ruling houses will win the game for thrones, that much is certain. The game manufacturer Dire Wolf Digital - among other things responsible for the digital adaptations to Root or Robbers of the North Sea as well as the makers behind the new deck building board game for the film Dune: Empire - implemented Game of Thrones as a digital version for the PC. There is not much to explain about the popular brand: It is an adaptation of one of the best-selling board games by Fantasy Flight Games, based on the successful novel series A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin.

Ten rounds of war, diplomacy and fraud

The digital adaptation of the strategic board game Game of Thrones adheres closely to the template and takes up the mechanics given by the setting: So it goes over a set number of laps about warfare and deception, but also diplomacy. Players take control of one of the six Great Houses of Westeros and try to secure their place on the throne.

In parallel to the release of the PC game, Asmodee Digital has released a new launch trailer for the title:

The trailer, which is around one minute long, shows in particular the battles that can be started with rival ruling houses and provides a glimpse of the 3D models used in the digital board game. Diplomatically and militarily, players conquer areas on the map round after round, but have to manage their resources and, among other things, send popular figures from the template into the battles.

The PC version of the strategic board game Game of Thrones can be played in a solo mode against artificial intelligence, but also as part of online matches, with a ranking system ensuring balance in the selection of opponents. The game costs around 20 euros and is now available via Steam .
