In 2018 Mark Tuck managed to land a small hit with Obsthain (orchard). The small solo game comes with 18 cards, 9 of which are used per game. The aim of the game is to place the fruit tree cards on top of each other in such a way that the same trees are on top of each other - this earns you more points. In addition to a large fan base, the game was also able to win the prize as Golden Geek Best Print & Play Board Game win.
In 2021 Zitrushain (eng. Groove) was the second part of the series. The game principle remained largely the same, but there were some changes that could give the game its very own appeal. As the name suggests, the topic was no longer about fruit trees, but about citrus trees.
It gave up yesterday boardgamegeek by Mark Tuck the announcement for the last part of the trilogy, which combines individual features of the games that have already been released and also brings in very own aspects.
Back in the summer I had the thought that it would be fun and interesting to try to develop a third game (the final part of a trilogy if you like). One that combines my favorite features from Orchard with those from Grove and adds a few new twists
Even if Forage follows in big footsteps, it can be assumed that it will be another hit. On the one hand because both parts enjoy a large fan base and on the other hand because Mark Tuck has shown with Zitrugrove that he can give a well-known game a new appeal with just a few changes.
Maybe it's also an advantage to have already announced the end of the series. As a result, there will probably be three strong titles that are not diluted by too many variants and slowly getting worse. A small drop of bitterness remains, because after Zitrushain I had wished for a total of four games so that every season is covered. Nevertheless, I am very excited and looking forward to the third and final part of the series.
