Just when you think you've already seen every imaginable game and innovation when it comes to online co-op, an indie developer comes around the corner from somewhere and proves you wrong. In this case it is SplitSide Games. They are the ones who bring Fling to the Finish, a game onto the market that at first glance looks like a fun party game, but with the right friends and opponents it quickly turns out to be a competitive battlefield.
Just don't get tangled up!
When you start the game for the first time with your boyfriend or girlfriend, your own rope will probably be your biggest enemy. This connects you with your partner and, if you're not careful, can quickly get tangled up in the numerous obstacles that are spread across the map. However, these are not the only problems to contend with. Since the opponents are on the same map, they can quickly become an unavoidable hurdle.
Chaos in online multiplayer
If 2 vs. 2 in local multiplayer isn't enough for you, you can try online multiplayer. This mode includes up to 16 players, divided into four teams of four. The gameplay doesn't change, but the chaos factor is likely to increase quite a bit. One can only be glad that the game doesn't have a voice chat function (yet).
Regardless of which mode you ultimately choose, the game will sooner or later put you to a mental test. Be it because of your opponent, your own teammate or even your own incompetence, which costs you the race. But this is exactly where the wheat is separated from the chaff. Calmness and concentration have always proven their worth in the long term.
Also available in a bundle
Players who want to support the developers additionally can purchase the appropriate “Supporter Pack” directly for a currently reduced price of €2,67. This includes, among other things: a monkey character and exclusive party skins. But aesthetic cover art background images are also part of the bundle. However, you have to be quick here as the offer ends on February 1st.
