The “Fed Con” convention is taking place in June for the 28th time. For a whole four days, fans then have the opportunity to experience their stars from films and TV series live. "Fed Con 28" begins on Friday, June 7, 2019 and ends on Monday, June 10, 2019. Tickets for the convention at Bonn's Maritim Hotel are still available.
Convention with tradition
When "Fed Con" takes place at the Maritim Hotel in Boss from June 7th, it will be the 28th anniversary of the event. The German convention, which was held for the first time in 1992 - at that time still as a pure fan meeting with Walter Koenig as a guest - invites fans to experience their stars from TV and films up close.
The organizer, Fed Con GmbH, states that the convention is Europe's largest in the field of Star Trek and science fiction. Real fans shouldn't care anyway, because this event is well attended and star-heavy every year.
Tickets for Fed Con 28 are available. The standard ticket / Fed Con Economy) costs 134,99 euros, Fed-Con geeks pay a little less. As is now common at conventions, fans can alternatively book luxury versions: the gold ticket for 899 euros and the platinum ticket for 1.599 euros - then including a predetermined number of autographs and photo sessions with stars of their choice as well as a few other features, that should make your stay at Fed Con more pleasant. Holders of the standard admission tickets and for gold or platinum tickets beyond the contingent autographs and photos cost extra. Meet & Greets with a few selected stars are also possible, prices start at around 100 euros.
The star guests at Fed Con 28 include Bruce Boxleitner, Kevin Sorbo, Ken Leung, Scott Grimes and Aaron Ashmore. More announcements will be made.
However, guest star visits are only part of the convention: it's about meeting like-minded people, presenting your latest cosplay costumes or participating in workshops, panels or special events. The lectures deal with special effects, toys, mysteries, but also with classic topics from fictional science, such as time travel or computer technologies. The Fed Con is therefore more than just a "costume event".
