From 2023, fans should be able to jump into the hopping adventure with the “Fab Four”, when Disney Illusion Island is expected to appear exclusively for Nintendo Switch. The Idea: Players travel to the mysterious islands of Monoth to retrieve three mystical books so they can save the world from catastrophe.

The announcement of the new Disney video game came as a surprise during the D23 Expo live stream. Nobody expected a new platformer, which will also contain a couch co-op mode - perfect for joint gaming moments on the home screen. You will only be able to play on the Nintendo Switch, because that is already clear: Disney Illusion Island is an exclusive title. However, the concept of family-friendly bouncy action also fits the console perfectly. Nintendo's e-shop says it won't be able to play multiplayer online - a limitation, but also a nod to the value of "real" co-gaming in physical presence.
The game attracted attention primarily because of the graphic style: Instead of 3D elements or rendering botches, the developers used drawings based on classic Disney formats. You will play with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy - either alone or with up to three friends. The trailer already indicates that each of the "Fab Four" will probably have a special skill that needs to be used cleverly in the respective levels.
It is clear that you will not only have to jump, swim or swing in the game environments, but also have to solve puzzles with them. There will also be boss fights. The search for hidden secrets is almost mandatory.
Behind the 2D platformer is Dlala Studios, the team behind the current Battletoads video game. So the makers have experience with the implementation of retro brands.
