After fans have had a real shitstorm over Blizzard since the release of Warcraft 3 Reforged, the developers have now spoken in an official forum post. On behalf of the development team, community manager Kaivax gave an update on Warcraft 3 Reforged - and sent an apology.
Warcraft 3 Reforged: Players are requesting refunds
Well, Blizzard has got over that official forum for the first time since the release in detail addressed to the fans with an update to Warcraft 3 Reforged. Community manager Kaivax first delivers an apology to all those players who are disappointed with the current state of the game. At the same time, the developers thank the fans for their feedback.
Then comes what fans are particularly interested in: Blizzard wants to submit a larger patch with missing features, such as rankings or clan functions. However, there is no date for the provision of such an update. Further details are to be published in the “coming weeks”.
Kaivax also provides explanations on behalf of the development team. Players who complain about the lack of tournaments and rule sets are correct about the deletion of the features themselves. According to information from the developers, these have hardly been used and were already removed from the game in summer 2019 with version 1.31. Blizzard wanted to focus on the areas of Warcraft 3 Reforged that were essential to the game. According to Blizzard, there are currently no plans to implement these features ("Reign of Chaos" rule set and tournaments) again in the future. Instead, you can use the “Custom games” area.
The revised cutscenes were also a thorn in the side of fans. These were much closer to the original than players have seen in demos before. It was intentional that Blizzard screwed on the scenes. The developers would have already communicated that at the past BlizzCon. So the cutscenes shouldn't deviate that far from the original. Blizzard wanted to support the nostalgia factor: "Players should remember the unforgettable moments exactly as they took place in Warcraft 3."
Much more important is the outlook into the future of Warcraft 3 Reforged. They want to support the real-time strategy game in the long term, even beyond the upcoming patches and updates. In the course of the week, Blizzard plans to improve and eliminate the first problems and errors through hotfixes. This includes, among other things, the faulty graphics in classic mode, due to which the colors and shadows look different than in the original. Further fixes are supposed to fix the audio area, the portrait pictures and problems with the user interface.
