From Software's hit role-playing game Elden Ring will be implemented as a pen-and-paper role-playing game, according to information from the Japanese website Famitsu out. The tabletop RPG for Elden Ring is scheduled to be released next spring.
Elden Ring is one of the best video games of recent years - the developers at From Software have delivered nothing less than a masterpiece. Most recently, the open-world action role-playing game was awarded the German Computer Game Prize 2022 for “Best International Game”. And now fans of table role playing should also be able to enjoy the mystical world.

The Video game was right on almost everything from the presentation to the story to the gameplay. As a pen-and-paper role-playing game, Elden Ring will still have to reinvent itself, because some of the strengths of the template will not be easy to adopt - for very pragmatic reasons. Elden Ring was so successful as a video game because it is convincing as a video game, even on a purely technical level. For the tabletop RPG, story and characters must now take center stage. In any case, the open-world action role-playing game with its class system and the partly wacky background story offers enough good approaches.
Famitsu states that the magic, sorceries, pieces of equipment and enemies from Elden Ring's "Lands Between" will be used for the pen-and-paper role-playing game, as well as some basic rules for exploring the original's rather sprawling game world. So far it is unclear whether an existing P&P system will be used for the Elden Ring tabletop role-playing game. Against the background of the Dark Souls title, however, that seems at least likely - there one had relied on a one-on-one set of rules. It was only later that an English-language Dark Souls RPG based on D&D 5E was released by Steamforged Games. The Elden Ring role-playing game is being developed with the participation of Hironori Katou from the SNE Group, who also just adapted Dark Souls for the gaming table.
It is not known when exactly the tabletop RPG for Elden Ring will be launched. Spring 2023 is currently given as the release period.
