A project by Kobold Spieleverlag is currently underway at the Spieleschmiede, which is intended to enable a German edition of the card game Elawa.
Elawa is a family card game in which 2 to 4 people compete as leaders to put together the best prehistoric tribe. To do this, they have to accept members, build huts and storage facilities and collect resources such as meat, berries and furs.
There are six stacks of cards around a campfire, each with a stack of resources. On your turn, you choose one of the cards with a person, hut or tool. The number indicated on it then determines from how many stacks in a clockwise direction you can take the top resource. You need these resources to pay for the selected cards and get them from your hand into the display. In the end, only cards that are laid out are included in the scoring.
You can initially only take four resources with you into the next turn (in an advanced variant with asymmetrical chieftain skills only three). Building deposits for each resource can be very helpful here.
The symbolism also proves to be useful Elawa, which enables people with color vision deficiency to distinguish the card colors from each other in the game.
Anyone interested in the fast-playing and harmoniously illustrated card game can still enjoy the project until on November 2nd at the Spieleschmiede and secure your own copy.
