Publisher Funcom and developer Shiro Games have released the Early Access roadmap for the 4X/RTS hybrid Dune: Spice Wars. The long-awaited multiplayer feature will appear in the next major update this summer, with more content such as new factions, buildings and units to follow over the course of the year.

With the spice flowing and a strong foundation laid, publisher Funcom and developer Shiro Games are determined to take Dune: Spice Wars to new heights. Today they unveil the planned Early Access content with a roadmap.
The roadmap promises some big new features like a multiplayer mode, a new faction and heroic units. But that's not all, content can still change or new ones can be added. Alongside the new features, players can expect increasing improvements with each update.
As seasoned Early Access developers, Funcom and Shiro Games appreciate the value of community feedback and take it seriously, which is why the features mentioned in the roadmap are subject to change. Multiplayer is currently the top priority. Other major changes are then planned, including a new faction that has not yet been announced. Legendary characters from Dune are also to be integrated into the game as advisors and controllable hero units. The Air & Sand update reveals even more in-depth warfare, complete with new units and tactical elements.
In Dune: Spice Wars, players choose between Atreides, Harkonnen, smugglers or Fremen to control the planet and thus the Spice. The challenge is to make the most of insidiousness, open warfare, politics and economics to stay one step ahead of opponents and leave them in the dust as players maneuver through the natural hazards of Dune and its gargantuan sandworms.
