The action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 continues to make waves: As has now become known, two US law firms have filed class actions against developer CD Projekt Red. Carefree Christmas days should therefore be a thing of the past: The company is accused of having made misleading and false statements and of having harmed investors as a result.

The office Rosen Law Firm of New York and law firm The Schall Law Firm of Los Angeles have each filed class action lawsuits against CD Projekt Red. In both cases, the lawyers are referring to "false and misleading statements made to investors." The damage was largely caused by the collapsing share price of CD Projekt Red. Following the release, the company recorded some enormous slumps, the price dropped from around 99 euros at the beginning of December to around 60 euros at the moment.

Cyberpunk 2077: Defects were not disclosed

Due to its actions leading up to the release, CD Projekt Red has become the focus of two law firms, which are now representing the interests of several investors. Behind the argumentation in the class action lawsuit is part of the development and announcement history of Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red released a statement in January 2020 stating that the action role-playing game was "finished and playable", at that time the release date was the September set and Cyberpunk 2077 is known to have been pushed from its original date of April 17th. More time would have been needed for tests, repairs and detail improvements. Ultimately, Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10th.

Several core statements from the management floor have now led to the class action lawsuits. Among other things, Michał Nowakowski from CD Projekt Red had stated when asked directly about the then current-gen consoles, "there is nothing wrong with the versions for Xbox and Playstation 4", there "is no problem with Xbox or Playstation 4". Then the release took place in December, with the well-known subsequent scenario. Cyberpunk 2077 turned out to be a masterpiece for the PC, the last-gen versions were anything but perfectly playable. Before the Publication had stated in an investor announcement, the game's performance on Playstation 4 and Xbox One was "surprisingly good" and there were hints that the action role-playing game didn't have many annoying bugs.

Among other things, CD Projekt had published a trailer with gameplay of the PS4 version:

The lawyers argue that CD Projekt Red made false and / or misleading statements and / or failed to disclose that Cyberpunk 2077 is unplayable. As a result, there were bad test ratings, Sony even removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the Playstation store. The OpenCritic website also responded with a warning. Microsoft also offers refunds, CD Projekt Red itself even to a limited extent for purchases in retail stores.

In the meantime, the developers are working intensively on the publication of further hotfixes and patches in order to eliminate the errors - often successfully so far. Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. Versions for Xbox Series X | S are to follow in 2021, as is a multiplayer mode.
