The Publisher Pegasus Spiele has released Doodle Dungeon, a new fun game in which players first “build” their own dungeon with pen and paper and then defend it against looting heroes. As if that weren't enough weird illustrations, Pegasus is adding two new expansions to the Munchkin universe.
With Doodle Dungeon the publisher has Pegasus Spiele recently released a new game from its fun series: As a dungeon master, you first build your own dungeon and then defend it against a looting hero. The price is around 25 euros.
It's just as wild with two new expansions in the Munchkin universe, which are expected to appear in May. Munchkin hit the market: Mix or Die! with four mini expansions for popular Munchkin settings and the new expansion for Munchkin Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Chaos & Order.
With pen and paper against heroes
Doodle Dungeon is more pen and paper than pen and paper, but the direction is right. Players grab the Doodle dungeon block and a pen. The latter then becomes the sharpest – or sharpest – weapon: two to four dungeon masters from the age of ten equip their dark dungeon with walls, traps and monsters. Why? Because courageous heroes are approaching who have nothing else in mind than plundering the treasures. So this has to be prevented.
Doodle Dungeon is like the writing version of Electronic Arts'Classic video game Dungeon Keeper. But you can't build your own dungeon freely and equip it with any invented traps: players first select cards over 14 rounds and draw the elements depicted on them on their initially empty game board.
Then the jailer leads the invading warrior through the dungeon on a path given by a fellow player. Another highlight: The cards taken before can be used again to strengthen the settled monsters or to support the heroes in the dungeons of the rival dungeon masters.
The goal is to inflict as much damage as possible on the hero in his own dungeon or, in the best case, to kill him off without looting the hidden treasures or beating too many monsters.
Doodle Dungeon comes from the game author Ulrich Blum (including Minecraft, Antigua). He has created a fun game with varied game elements, ranging from drafting cards to building dungeons and dice fighting. Another thing that is strikingly known at Doodle Dungeon: the illustrations. They come from the Munchkin draftsman John Kovalic.
Which then goes directly to the other innovations from Pegasus Spiele to be published in May. The publisher then continues the Munchkin series with two new expansions: Munchkin: Mix or Die! contains four mini-expansions with 30 cards each for the popular parts Munchkin, Munchkin Cthulhu, Munchkin Zombies and Star Munchkin. Each of the mini-expansions can be combined with the respective base game or mixed together for a Cthulhu science fiction kung fu space pirate dungeon adventure with zombies.
The other Munchkin novelty, Munchkin Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Chaos and & Order, is already the second expansion of the Munchkin part Munchkin Warhammer Age of Sigmar, which was released in June 2020. This parodies the Munchkin-style tabletop game Warhammer Age of Sigmar from Games Workshop. With the latest expansion, two new armies that are very popular with fans enter the battlefield: the Kharadron Overlords, who dig for gold in the heavens above the realms of mortals, and the Khorne Bloodbound, who fight anything and everyone, including themselves.
