Board game author Alexander Pfister is known for his games such as Great Western Trail, Maracaibo and Isle of Skye. Now he announces his first PC game and takes you on a hellish adventure.
Alexander Pfister and Jürgen Thallinger have been working for two years Magnolia Games in the implementation. Demon Loop is a digital debut for both Pfister and Thallinger.
The adventure will soon appear in Early Access on the Steam gaming platform to incorporate feedback from the community before it becomes a full-price title. According to the developer, the game will be in Early Access for about a year and will contain about a third of the game's content during that time. The full version should not only provide the complete content, but also additional features.
Deck building in the demon loop
According to the developer, you will experience a "completely new gaming experience" in Demon Loop. The charm of a board game is transferred to a video game. In Demon Loop you would have to master the demon loop with a growing deck of cards. You protect people from monsters, improve your skills and reveal the secret of the demon loop. There are no more details yet.
The first Catan PC game and Yucata (online simulation for board games) appeared as early as 2000 and marked the beginning of the 'digitization' of board games. But it took a while until more and more board games were published as video games.
From 2010, digital board games took off. In the years that followed, three other well-known online simulation platforms for board games appeared: Board Game Arena, Tabletop Simulator and Tabletopia. More and more board game implementations are also ending up on Steam, and we don’t just have the pandemic to thank for that (side note: the board game Pandemic appeared on Steam back in 2018). So it's no wonder that board game authors like Alexander Pfister are using this trend and trying their hand at publications.
If you have a Steam account, then you can Demon Loop already on the wish list set. The upcoming release in Early Access on Steam is priced at around 15 euros.
