The release of Cyberpunk 2077 has been postponed again. The developers CD Projekt Red have now announced this. This has happened what hardly anyone would have expected after the announcement of the gold status. But: The publication was only postponed by 21 days. The game will not be released in November as originally planned, but only in December.
When will Cyberpunk 2077 be released? Not in November anymore. According to the developer, the Cyberpunk RPG will now be released on October 10th. So it is a delay of 21 days. This is the third shift in the release date. At the beginning of 2020, the CD project Red Cyberpunk 2077 was postponed to mid-September, after which the delay took place in mid-November. And now it is clear that it will take even longer.
Corona is causing a shift
What developers write: CD Project Red is named as the greatest challenge that Cyberpunk 2077 has to test in nine different versions. These include the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. But Google Stadia, the computer and old consoles also have trial versions. All of this has to be done from home and therefore leads to delays. The developers write: "It might sound strange when someone says that 21 days makes a difference in such a large and complex game, but it really can."
Developers recently announced that the game had achieved “golden status”. This means that it is ready and the content is complete. However, there is now a delay. CD Project Red says, "But that doesn't mean we stop working on it and improve its quality." The time it will take to make these improvements cannot be calculated, say the developers.
In the meantime you can just watch the trailer again:
How do first-time players react? Mixed after the first few comments. There is a lot of understanding for this change. Others are disappointed. Still, there are many positive comments. By the way: Corona has caught more games, most recently the new WoW expansion Shadowlands.
While the release is still expected in April, you'll have to wait even longer. However, the delay is not too late and you can look forward to the action of the RPG at Christmas time. In early October, Cyberpunk 2077 was still making headlines around the dreaded “Crunch” to make sure the game was ready on time. The extra hours were probably not enough for that.
