The time until the release of Cyberpunk 2077 seems to go by in slow motion. Video game news is therefore gratefully accepted by fans. Now the second episode of Night City Wire gave further insights into the development of Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red has released three new featurettes that shed light on some backgrounds and game elements.
Players have to be patient until November 19th. Then the game will appear for PS4, Xbox One and PC. There will also be a free upgrade for the launch of the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. Bridging the waiting time is not that easy, especially in Corona times. After all, there is now around twelve minutes of new video material cyberpunk 2077.
Choose your destiny ...
CD Projekt Red reveals more about the character's background story in the first featurette. Players can choose from three life paths: nomad, street child or “corpo”. The choice will have an impact on the gaming experience, the developers promise. It starts with the way players first come into contact with Night City, the central location of Cyberpunk 2077.
No less exciting is the presentation of the arsenal of weapons that players can fall back on in the course of their cyberpunk adventure. Melee weapons, tech assault rifles or sniper rifles, but also guns with penetrating power at short range, such as the cyberpunk version of a shotgun, will be available. In the video, CD Projekt Red also shows how small-scale weapons can be configured.
Players can replace the aiming device, make changes to the barrel or improve the trigger. If the conventional katana is too boring for you in close combat, you get a more modern alternative to classic swords with variants such as the “Mantis Blades” built into the arm. Alternatively, players can simply have a rocket launcher implanted in their wrist. And if you want to do without additional weapons entirely, you can use super-powerful gorilla arms.
There is a bit more featurette and more marginal gameplay in the video about the creation of the in-game music band “Samurai”, which brought the Swedish punk rocker Refused to life. It's exciting because music will make a significant contribution to the atmosphere in Cyberpunk 2077, for example when it comes to exploring the nightlife in Night City.
If that's not enough: A compendium has been available in stores since the end of July, which CD Projekt Red offers in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics. The book gives fans the opportunity to delve deeper into the background story of Cyberpunk 2077 and to learn more about the characters.
The deluxe edition of the English-language compendium The World Of Cyberpunk 2077* costs around 90 euros.
