There were already rumors, now it's official: Crash Bandicoot 4 will be released - on October 2nd. Activision announced this as part of the Summer Game Fest and rolled out a gameplay trailer at the same time that shows Crash in action.
The anthropomorphic bag badger is returning - continuing the successful video game series Crash Bandicoot, the offshoots of which have sold over 40 million times worldwide. In 1996, the game, which was then released exclusively for the Playstation family, strengthened the genre of 3D jumping games. It would take until 2001 and five sequels before Crash was finally allowed to spin on the Xbox. Activision has now announced a modern sequel with Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, which will be released on October 2nd for current-gen consoles, i.e. Xbox One and Playstation 4.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's about Time - and new worlds ...
It's not just Crash that is celebrating its revival. Parade antagonist Dr. Neo Cortex returns to the screen and will be playable. Otherwise, fans steer Crash and Coco through the colorful levels and hop, whirl, slide, run - and do everything that human-shaped pouches do.
A first trailer shows the action-packed gameplay of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's about Time.
There is a lot of new content, including game worlds that have never been seen before: starting with futuristic-looking settings with flying cars to dinosaur worlds, then including a gigantic T-Rex, whose main meal seems to consist of bag badgers. Crash will also be able to fall back on completely new skills. The gravity mask allows players to walk along walls and ceilings, for example.
And the subtitle of Crash Bandicoot 4 is apparently also part of the program: time manipulation probably comes into play through the "Mask of Time". This allows the sequences to be played more slowly so that obstacles can be avoided more easily.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will be released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. More details about the platforming will be published in the coming months.
