The opening of the convention year is imminent. The first MAG-C, which will be more colorful than ever, will start with a new look next weekend from February 4th to 5th.
With over 80 exhibitors and artists as well as well-known influencers, Messe Erfurt is turning into a mecca for cosplayers, gamers and fans of Japanese pop culture. The Community Convention brings together diverse characters and quick-change artists who pursue their hobby with a lot of passion and bring Japanese style to the fair, as well as gamers who can compete against each other in various tournaments. Visitors can immerse themselves in various themed worlds from speedrun, retro and e-sports to cosplay, Japan and artists.
Cosplay contest for the most beautiful costumes
On Saturday morning, the moderators Freiraumreh and SaKiDe welcome the community on the main stage. Dennsen then engages in an exciting battle against time with his guests. The official opening at 13 p.m. will be taken over by the guest of honor Bodo Ramelow, Prime Minister of the Free State of Thuringia. In a conversation with Freiraumreh, he then gives an outlook on the digital society and his own experiences with gaming. "We are very pleased that he insists on opening the MAG-C on Saturday," says Michael Kynast, Managing Director of Messe Erfurt.
In the Cosplay Contest with SaKiDe, the most beautiful costumes are presented and awarded by a selected jury. In addition, visitors can discover a gallery of various cosplay costumes and use the repair station for minor corrections to cosplay outfits.
Also on the main stage there is the NNO regulars' table (NNO = no need orga are the founders of the successful e-sports team NNO) and a Mario Maker Challenge on Sunday.
"We invited many cosplayers, streamers and e-athletes," reports Laura Schlenstedt, who is responsible for the project, about the variety at MAG-C. These include well-known influencers such as Bibi Nyan (282k followers), Kaddi (166k followers), Liechee (146k followers), smoettii (102k followers), Bakka (44k followers), Silivren (26k followers), Dennsen (24k followers), Milschbaum (92k followers) and NNO (5tsd followers), which round off the convention.
In addition, visitors can expect a large merch exhibition with many retailers, a gaming area with various games and a retro area with many old consoles from Sony, Nintendo and Co.
Between the hustle and bustle, the Maid Café invites you to linger and then compete in the Mario Kart tournament in the E-Sports Area. In the Japan Area you can discover Japanese culture and join various free workshops, such as origami or a Japanese language course in the CongressCenter.
There is also plenty of input for all fans of the anime. The hearts of anime fans will not only beat faster in an anime cinema in the CongressCenter, the various exhibitors such as LC Power, Manga Mafia and icd intinctive are also waiting to be visited.
There are ten areas in total, which reflect the colorful variety of the MAG-C. The food stands also provide unusual culinary delights. In other words – there is something for everyone at MAG-C!
