The biggest update to date, Desert of Beginnings, for hit indie sandbox Core Keeper is now available to download. New additions include go-karts, which players can use to compete against their friends and explore the game world. There's also glittering Galaxite ore and powerful new weapons to discover

Core Keeper is a mining sandbox adventure for 1-8 players set in an ancient cave full of creatures, treasure and trinkets. It was released to Steam Early Access earlier this year and has already sold over 1 million copies. In the game, relics and resources must be mined to build your own base, craft new gear, and survive.

The "Desert of Beginnings"

For the first time, players can get behind the wheel of a go-kart and drift across the desert sands. With the brand new vehicle, players can compete against their friends and explore the world of Core Keeper like never before. There's also glittering Galaxite ore and powerful new weapons to discover. Among them is the Burnzooka, a projectile weapon that can pierce enemies and destroy earth, clay, and stone walls in one fell swoop. In addition, spears are introduced as a new weapon type, which are particularly suitable for long-distance combat.

With the all-new Bug Net, players can hunt bugs to catch small bugs, larvae, fireflies, and other friendly critters. They can then present them in their game world. Crafting keys gives adventurers access to locked chests they find on their journey. Along the way, players will also face unknown enemies and two new bosses: Igneous, the Molten Mass and Ra-Akar, the Sand Titan.
Today's update also introduces a number of quality of life improvements requested by the community. These include Steam Achievements, the ability to fish from boats and minecarts, improvements to recipes and the cooking pot, and the option to destroy, pick up, and place a selection of larger world objects.

"We're thrilled that players can finally get behind the wheel of our brand new go-karts and experience the world of Core Keeper like never before," said Sven Thole, COO and Lead Animator at Pugstorm. “The Desert of Beginnings is by far our biggest update to Core Keeper yet, with brand new locations to explore as well as important new content and features. We've also added new content to some of our existing biomes to give players another reason to revisit familiar locations like the Earth biome and Clay Caverns. We hope fans will enjoy the new content that awaits them in the Desert of Beginnings.”
