New content for Sid Meier's Civilization VI every two months. That sounds too good to be true. Now comes what fans of the civilization game have been dreaming of for a long time: regular new content, also for Nintendo Switch. The service is called the “New Frontier” pass, for which players initially have to dig relatively deep into their pockets. The fun costs 40 euros, which will then be replenished every two months until March 2021.
Civilization 6: Around four years of continuous entertainment
Sid Meier's Civilization 6 is almost four years old and over time has become the flagship of the entire series. At the beginning it looked different: Civilization 6 has always been outstanding and entertaining, but couldn't compete with its direct predecessor with real fans.
Today, three and a half years after the release, numerous updates as well as the two big expansions Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm have ensured that the latest of the series is also the best of the series.
To keep it that way, 2K Games and Firaxis are now adding a season pass that will ensure constant supplies. Launching on May 21st is the Maya and Greater Colombia Pack, with two new civilizations, two new leaders, new city-states, and an apocalypse game mode. This is followed by content every two months. In July, the New Frontier Pass introduces another civilization and leader, Ethiopia, the Secret Society game mode, and a new district and infrastructure.
Then it gets surprising: Although it is known that further new civilizations and leaders as well as game modes will be implemented in September, November, January and March, which 2K Games and Firaxis have not yet revealed.
New maps, scenarios and balancing adjustments are also coming, but free of charge and also for those players without a New Frontier Pass. "As part of the Civilization 6 content preview, Firaxis will be releasing additional free updates between DLC packs with new maps, scenarios, balance adjustments and more for all owners of the game," 2K Games announced.
Civilization 6: Annual pass costs 40 euros
The Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass will initially be available for 39,99 euros on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, Mac and Linux. Mobile platforms will be added later this year. It will also be possible to purchase each DLC package individually, announces 2K Games. So if you are only interested in a single civilization, you can expand your “Civ 6” selectively.

Of course, there are also a few goodies for buyers: Anyone who purchases the “New Frontier” pass will receive the Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine de Medici packages as exclusive bonuses. Each of the two packs includes a head of state in a new guise, then with a new leader model and background, new in-game bonuses, and an updated agenda adapted and revised to reflect the changed leader's personality.
"Rough Rider Teddy" is an expert at keeping the peace on his home continent, and "Catherine (Exalted)" can achieve world domination through the use of luxury goods with the use of culture and tourism. Both packs will be released at the same time as the second DLC pack in July.
The Season Pass is only additional content for Civilization 6. The main game is therefore mandatory.
