Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a cinematic turn-based tactical role-playing game. Players control a squad of genetically enhanced Space Marines known as the Gray Knights in their quest to destroy the forces of Chaos and halt the spread of the Bloom, a galaxy-wide demonic plague. From their mobile base of operations, the Baleful Edict, players decide which planets must survive and which must fall as a result of the Gray Knights' efforts to quell the burgeoning threat of the Blossom.

All players who pre-order Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters via Steam and the Epic Games Store will gain access to two exclusive in-game items, which are powerful relics from the hallowed vaults deep within Titan's citadel. The ancient book Domina Liber Daemonica is carried into battle by a hero of the Order in times of great need, and the words within have the power to send demons howling back into the warp.
The centuries-old demon hammer Annihilator of Crys'yllix was the first Nemesis demon hammer of its kind, used centuries earlier to smash the ruler of change, Crys'yllix. Both items can be equipped with any of the player's Gray Knights in game.

Players preparing to join the Gray Knights in purging the bloom can expand their arsenal with the Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – Castellan Champion Edition, which grants players access to an exclusive character alongside the base game. Owners of this version can add Castellan Garran Crowe to their campaign as the story progresses, and the mighty champion of the Gray Knights can fight with the rest of the party afterwards. Crowe wields his own unique weapon, the Black Blade of the Antwyr, as well as special game rules and a distinctive voice in battle. This edition also includes the game's original soundtrack, composed by Dawn of War 2 veteran Doyle W. Donehoo.
A veteran of hundreds of campaigns, Grandmaster Vardan Kai, voiced by Andy Serkis, will advise players from Titan's Citadel and answer requests for additional reinforcements, master-crafted armor and weapons to support their campaign.
Gameplay Summary
Players command the Gray Knights in fast-paced and brutal ground combat missions, using precision tactics to crush the forces of chaos. They must use everything at their disposal to snuff out the bloom, adapting their strategies to the circumstances. During missions on infected planets, events known as Warp Surge can occur, summoning enemy reinforcements or making enemies even stronger.
The longer players allow a planet to wither under the influence of the bloom, the more dangerous combat missions there become, as different "strains" of the plague spread. Enemies and the environment mutate as the campaign progresses as the bloom spreads, keeping commanders on high alert with unexpected challenges. Preparing their champions to stand against Nurgle's corruption, players will assemble their squad from a variety of different classes, each with their own combat abilities and specializations. With customizable gear, upgrades, and armor, players can create their own personal team of Battle-Brothers.
The Gray Knights will face off against a variety of Nurgle's minions, from vile Plaguebearers to the towering Greater Daemons and Daemon Princes. Finally, they will face the ultimate challenge: the Prince of Decay and Primarch of the Death Guard himself: Mortarion. Along the way, players will experience a rich Warhammer 40.000 story brought to life by New York Times bestselling author Aaron Dembski-Bowden.
