At the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom unveiled a new title from the Resident Evil universe. Project Resistance is the working title of the survival horror game in which a team of four human players compete cooperatively against a "mastermind". The highlight: the mastermind player is also a flesh-and-blood gamer. The new Resident Evil release Project Resistance is currently being developed for PlayStation 4, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and for PC. There is no date for the publication yet, but the announcement of a closed beta from October 4th to 7th. Registrations are possible between September 11th and 18th.
Project Resistance: Dungeon Master plays with strategy cards
Capcom is developing Project Resistance in collaboration with NeoBards Entertainment, using the proprietary RE Engine, which was also used in Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5.
Project Resistance uses a classic "dungeon master" system in which players play together against a human "superboss". In each 4v1 match, a Mastermind player watches the four survivors through a network of surveillance cameras, trying to stay one step ahead of them to prevent their escape.
The mastermind lays deadly traps by playing strategic cards and creating dangerous obstacles, summoning deadly creatures, manipulating the environment or using surveillance cameras as weapons. He can even control zombies directly.
Mastermind players can even slip into the gray cloak of the giant, deadly Tyrant for the first time in the series and take control of him. At the same time, the survivors must cooperate with each other to fend off the mastermind's attacks and complete puzzle-like mission objectives in order to be able to exit a map before the time runs out. Each survivor has unique skills that can help the team overcome the mastermind's challenges and survive the gritty experiment.
