Here comes an update on the board game fairs, which this year all take place under special circumstances or do not take place. In order to be able to keep an overview I have tried to put together a small list with new dates, online locations and information.
This year everything is different and of course that also affects the games industry. For us visitors, many highlights are missing, because what could be nicer than trying out all the new games live and meeting people who share the same hobby. You can exchange ideas, play or just stroll a little between the stands or - this is new this year - take part in the event in a purely digital way.
A lot is different this year
December 4 to 6, 2020 - STATION Berlin
The Berlin Brettspiel Con is taking place as an X-Mas edition this year, the tickets remain valid and you can look forward to a hot mulled wine. We'll keep our fingers crossed anyway, the organizers keep you up to date on the website and gradually publish new information. At least you can secure a few gifts for Christmas Eve on the second weekend in Advent.
Is canceled this year.
August 21 to 23, 2020 - Niederrheinhalle Wesel
It will probably take place this year too and the program is in place. The extent to which hygiene measures will be implemented or whether there will be adjustments to the program is still open, at least no information has yet been given on the website.
September 13, 2020 - City Hall Ratingen
The game days, which actually take place in spring, have been postponed to autumn and 2 become 1. This year the game days only take place on a one-day basis. But at least the program should be kept. And there will also be the Catan qualification duel.
October 22nd to 25th, 2020 - online
Takes place this year digital instead. Now there was also the first news, at least for the publishers, according to the Facebook page of the International Games Days, they have now received an information booklet. The layout of the digital trade fair should be the same as the 'normal' one.
Hamburg game fair
Cancelled. The Spielemesse Hamburg has decided not to let any event take place, neither on site nor digitally.
Games fair Stuttgart
November 19-22, 2020 - Messe Stuttgart
The Stuttgart game fair also relies on hygiene measures to allow the fair to take place in the usual context. It should be possible to use more free space and the aisles between the stands will be made larger so that distance rules can be adhered to.
November 6th to 8th, 2020 - MOC Munich
The playgrounds are expected to take place normally in November, but under strict distance and hygiene regulations. Because the health and safety of the participants comes first, the organization team promises to make everything as relaxed as possible. There is also a craft forum, an area dedicated to leisure activities apart from games.
