The German version of the Cthulhu role-playing game has been published by Pegasus Spiele since 1999. The epic Cthulhu board game Cthulhu Wars and four expansions are now also available.

The Cthulhu Mythos has fascinated people worldwide since the 1930s. Countless novels, films, video, board and role-playing games based on the myth of the so-called Ancient Ones - interstellar beings with supernatural powers - have since appeared.

In the field of board and role-playing games, the Cthulhu Mythos is closely associated with the name Sandy Petersen, who developed it into a horror role-playing game. Since Call of Cthulhu was first published in 1981, the success of the role-playing game, which has been published in the German version by Pegasus Spiele since 1999, has been unbroken. In addition to countless supplemental adventure and rule books that appear regularly, Petersen has also developed the Mythos into an epic, world-spanning board game - Cthulhu Wars.

Complex strategy for board game experts

In the complex strategy game, two to four players from the age of twelve slip into the role of Ancient Ones who, after defeating humanity, are now fighting to dominate the world. To do this, they themselves move across the huge playing field map of the earth and at the same time send their army into battle. Each faction has different, unique abilities. Players must use different tactics depending on whether they go into battle as Nyarlathotep, Shub-Niggurath, Hastur, or Cthulhu themselves.

In addition to the basic abilities of a faction, six spell books that can be unlocked during a game of Cthulhu Wars bring additional special rules and abilities into play. The epic gaming experience, which is easy to get started with despite complex, profound strategies, is atmospherically accompanied by high-quality miniatures - 64 of which are included in the basic game alone.
Four expansions were released at the same time as the Cthulhu Wars base game.

Wardens of the Way, Sleepers, and Wind Striders each bring a new faction into play with associated miniatures, faction markers or cards, and spell books. Each of these expansions increases the maximum number of players by one person. Yog-Sothoth (the guardian of the way), Tsathoggua (the sleeper) or Ithaqua (the wind strider) not only provide more variety and new challenges, but they also expand the battlefield with new competition in the fight for world domination. The Azathoth expansion also introduces another faction. However, this is neutral. The person who first awakens Azathoth, ruler of the entire cosmos, always assumes power.

The base game is available now at an RRP of EUR 149,99, the expansions Wind Strider, Sleeper and Guardian of the Way for EUR 39,99 each and the Azathoth expansion for EUR 44,99.
