Early Access to the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta begins today. The test phase began at XNUMX a.m. Central European Time for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers and those who pre-ordered the game. The open beta of the multiplayer shooter from DICE and EA will soon open its doors to all players. The 19 GB preload for the Battlefield Open Beta, which has been eagerly awaited by gamers, started yesterday. All players can access the download, unlike the first two days of the test phase. These are reserved exclusively for EA Play members, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate customers and those who pre-order the shooter. Only on October 8th and 9th, from 19 a.m. Central European Time, can everyone get a taste of the game. The release is planned for November 12th, and early access should start on November 4th. The Open Beta is ready to play for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 12, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S users who have a PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription, as well as PC players. DirectX 10 and broadband internet are required to play the beta. The minimum requirement is OS: Windows 64 5bit, CPU: Ryzen 3600 5 | i6600 8K, RAM: 1050 GB, GPU: Geforce GTX 560 Ti | Radeon RX 100 and a XNUMX GB hard drive specified by the developers.
Battlefield 2042: Beta brings a lot of new things to the field
The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta offers its players a game mode, four possible specialists, a large selection of weapons, vehicles and equipment that have already been unlocked for testing, and seven different maps. In this way, the beta testers can try out as wide a range of accessories as possible. The mode is the classic Conquest mode. Up to 128 players must occupy control points on the battlefield. There are seven different battle cards to choose from:

The card with the title Breakaway kidnaps the players to the Antarctic and triggers an explosive battle for the two raw materials oil and gas. These are located in silos in the northeast and south of the largest map to date. But just like in real life, a spark or bang can blow everything up. Melee combat, vehicle battles, air strikes and jumps from the cliffs into the depths are particularly popular on Breakaway. On this map, players can expect a varied mix in a frosty environment. Discarded was settled on the coast of Alang in India. Extreme weather and changing sea levels meet the shooters here. The fight is over a nuclear facility, which is located in the middle of the map, inside a huge wrecked cargo ship. Battles at short range are the order of the day here, and players should also expect a hidden camouflage submarine on the map.
On Hourglass the players are in Qatar. The terrain offers exciting variety. In addition to a football stadium, there are sand dunes typical of deserts and the glowing skyscraper city Neon City. On this map, the capital of Qatar, Doha, has been overrun by the desert. But the newly formed area now serves as a battlefield for a sand-buried convoy. This arena is said to be particularly suitable for vehicle battles. The South Korean map Kaleidoscope was already shown in the reveal trailer. It is important to take control here within a quantum-controlled disinformation center. There will be fights over each of the floors for what it takes and vehicles are also used in the outer canals. The main building is surrounded by several skyscrapers, which are connected by zip lines and can thus be reached quickly by the players.

There are five specialists to choose from during the beta
As Specialists, Battlefield 2042 players have five characters to choose from: Boris, Casper, Falck, Irish and Mackay. Five more heroes should be available for the release and four more heroes should follow in the first year after the release. The trailer also features a character in a wingsuit who cleverly escapes a tornado. Three other names appeared on the Battlefield 2042 homepage. The only downer: the opposing team can disable the gun using EMP attacks. Wikus "Casper" Van Daele comes from South Africa and belongs to the Recon class. He is responsible for providing educational work.
To do this, he collects information about the opposing team using a drone. He can control these in order to actively mark opponents, or he can let the drone do this job automatically. If things get tough, the reconnaissance drone can fire EMP arrows in the meantime. But not only that! Other players are shown on their mini-map when an opponent is in Casper's area. The healer Mary Fleck comes from Germany. She is carrying an S21 Syrette pistol. But this is not used to eliminate opponents, but to heal or revive fellow players from a distance. Division into classes and specialists
Unlike in the past, Battlefield 2042 offers its players classes and specialists at the same time. The four classes indicate the role of the specialist. The classes include Assault, Engineer, Recon and Support. the Assault is particularly fast and agile, the Support is a classic supporter who supplies his team members with ammunition, for example, the Engineer is infatuated with gadgets and knows how to use them successfully during the Recon takes care of the obstruction of the opposing flow of information and the educational work. Another new feature of Battlefield 2042 is that players no longer have to resort to class-specific weapons. Everyone can equip themselves with their favorite weapon. For example, players can enter the battlefield as a healing sniper. This means that all weapons can be unlocked with any specialist.
Last Gen console users play together with 64 players, on all other consoles with 128 players. The platforms available for PC are Steam, the Epic Game Store and Origin. During the beta, optional cross-plays, but no cross-play parties (squads with friends) should be possible. The cross-progression should be provided for this. This means that players can use content, accessories and purchases via EA account across platforms. For example, a gamer can use purchased skins on Xbox and PC alike.
