A cooperation between IDW Games, Warner Bros. and DC results in a board game spin-off of the animated series “Batman: The Animated Series” with the addition “Shadow of the Bat”. The highlight: The title supports the “Adventures Universal Game System” and is therefore also compatible with other AUGS games. The miniatures game will be available via a crowdfunding campaign from February 18th Kickstarter financed.
The new Batman miniatures game from IDW Games will be launched as a crowdfunding campaign as early as next month. The miniatures board game will be playable both cooperatively and competitively and will be a spin-off of the Batman animation series. IDW Games was already responsible for other licensed games, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures and currently the adaptation of the video game Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game.
Not the first Batman board game
In any case, IDW Games has experience with Batman board games. The publisher was previously responsible for the miniatures game "Batman: The Animated Series - Gotham under Siege", which was aimed at one to five players and relied on a fully cooperative concept.
In the miniatures game "Batman: The Animated Series Adventures - Shadow of the Bat", players once again slip into the roles of heroes such as Batman, Batgirl or Catwomen - each equipped with different abilities.
In a total of 24 missions - all based on the animated film - players then encounter iconic villains such as Two Face, Joker or Harley Quinn. The highlight: The part of the villains can also be taken over by a human player. You can choose to play Shadow of the Bat in a cooperative or competitive mode, like other titles within IDW's Adventures Universal Game System (AUGS).
With the start of the campaign for "Batman: The Animated Series Adventures - Shadow of the Bat" as crowdfunding, the expansion Arkham Asylum is also launched. This offers 13 more missions and with "Clayface" a new game mode. The "Clayface" is a shapeshifter, but it can reveal its true identity at any time, so it's a traitor mechanic. Matching the setting of Arkham Asylum, characters like Killer Croc or Poisin Ivy come into play. Additional character packs give players access to more iconic heroes.
Batman: The Animated Series Adventures - Shadow of the Bat launches on February 18th as crowdfunding. More information about the digital demo can be found at IDWGames.com/BTASDemo.
