Puerto Rican VTuber Ironmouse has dethroned Twitch star Kai Cenat. After a nearly 40-day Twitch subathon, a streaming marathon that aims to gain as many new subscribers as possible, the Twitch demon broke the existing record with a result of 326.252 subs - and that despite all adversities. During the marathon, the VTuber briefly lost access to her YouTube channels. Fans suspect a conspiracy behind this. Heartwarming: Half of her proceeds from the subathon went to the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF). But who is the anime demon Ironmouse?
Ironmouse's look resembles that of a demon. Horns adorn her temples, a demon's tail flashes out from under her short skirt. Her username is said to be derived from the villain Sailor Iron Mouse from Sailor Moon. The Twitch streamer describes herself as a snarky, cute waifu. This description should correspond to the feelings of most fans. The fans see in their demon queen a cute animated avatar who seems a bit over the top, speaks in a voice that is much too high and at the same time is fascinating in a strange way.
Her opponents, however, suspect that none other than Satan himself holds the reins of the VTuber. Admittedly, despite all the cringiness that one might experience while watching, this accusation seems pretty far-fetched to us.
One thing is clear: Ironmouse, who says she is a genuine Latina and not just an AI, has had a steady upward trajectory as a streamer since her first stream in 2017. Just three years later, she became a founding member of VShojo, an American talent agency specializing in promoting Vtubers, alongside other celebrities such as Project Melody. This was followed by a steady growth in followers and subscribers, whose numbers were boosted simultaneously by several subathons.
Ironmouse's presumably real past, on the other hand, appears anything but rosy. The woman behind the anime demon is said to suffer from variable immunodeficiency syndrome (CVID), which left her bedridden and, due to the effects of a respiratory infection, forced her to give up her dream of a career as an opera singer. But even though her dream of a professional singing career was shattered, viewers of today's Twitch star continue to benefit from her soprano singing performances. As for her other passions, the Vtuber reveals that anime, dubbing, art, gaming and live streaming are an integral part of her life. The games she plays most often include Elden Ring, Fortnite, Lethal Company and Minecraft.
Is Vtuberin Ironmouse a demon?
According to her channel, Ironmouse uses the voluntary donations from her Twitch fans to improve her performance, as a way to finance her medical care and to cover her living expenses. She reaches the hearts of her viewers in particular through her fundraising projects and using her reach to educate people about CVID and the importance of donating blood plasma. For this, she was awarded heroine status on the Plasma Hero website in 2022. Half of the proceeds from the September 2024 subathon also went to the IDF, a non-profit organization that supports people with primary immunodeficiency.
During the current Twitch marathon, YouTube blocked IronMouse's channels. Fans suspect a conspiracy to publish the private data behind the avatar. After her lawyers got involved, the VTuber's YouTube presence was reactivated. An incident that underlines the immense curiosity about the real person behind the Twitch streamer. The Puerto Rican-American streamer lovingly refers to her viewers as family.
Who is hiding behind Ironmouse?
Who exactly the demon queen Ironmouse is, who recently ascended the subscriber throne of Twitch, remains a secret. However, it seems clear that Satan has a particularly social side to him, if the rumors of her opponents are true. The truth probably lies somewhere between the rumors about shyness, AI and gender confusion of her followers and Ironmouse's own, quite credible statements.
So if it is a demon, it is at least a particularly nice one, with a penchant for pink and anime.
