Webedia announces that it is withdrawing the print edition of the video game magazine GamePro from the market with issue 01/2024.
The last issue is designed as a farewell issue and allows the editorial team and readers to celebrate a dignified end together.
End after over 20 years
“This decision is very difficult. With the loss of the printed GamePro, we are losing a magazine that has accompanied us for over 20 years and was extremely important for establishing our brands in the market - not only among readers, but also among our partner companies in the games industry. We deeply regret this loss,” said Marc-Andreas Albert, Managing Director of Webedia Germany.
After only ten weeks of development, the first issue of GamePro was published on September 1, 2002 with Gunnar Lott as editor-in-chief. The magazine previously launched as a special issue of its sister magazine GameStar, which continues to do well and will appear as a monthly printed edition as usual.
Daniel Visarius, Director of E-Commerce & Business Development, commented on the state of the print landscape: “The magazine market in the gaming and tech sectors has been under strong pressure for years. Smaller magazines in particular, including our Gamepro, are suffering from falling sales figures and rising costs for production and distribution, especially due to higher paper prices and shipping costs.”
The online presence should remain unchanged. The dedicated online team is not affected.
