Nintendo lets the cat out of the poke - or the Pokémon out of the Poké Ball. In the latest presentation, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak reveal what is currently being tinkered with. As expected, there was an expansion pass for Pokémon Sword & Shield on the one hand, and a new edition of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon - Rescue Team DX, which was launched in 2006, on the other.
The presentation lasted around 20 minutes and gave us insights into the conceptual work of The Pokémon Company and Game Freak. We have also already had a look at what to expect in terms of Pokémon in 2020.
From old to new
The first announcement of the afternoon was actually a surprise: The 2006 Pokémon Mystery Dungeon - Rescue Team for Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS is coming to the Switch in 2020 in a new look. With beautiful hand-drawn graphics and a chic 3D look, the first pictures of the new old game make you want more.
Anyone who would like to take a closer look can do so now. The game can not only be pre-ordered in the eShop from today, a demo is also available. The complete game will be available from March 6, 2020. Information is already available on the Nintendo website.
On a tour of discovery in the Galar region
The biggest announcement of course concerned Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, which were released in November 2019 Nintendo Switch appeared. Many players have already mastered the game and become the number 1 trainer or have collected and developed all 400 Pokémon.
New food will be available from summer 2020 in the form of an expansion pass. Part 1 covers "The Isle of Armor", Part 2 takes us to "The Tundra of the Crown". In both areas there will be new fights, characters and items. Among other things, those with which you can change the appearance of your avatar or bike. We also meet new legendary Pokémon and Pokémon that could not be caught in the previous game - these also differ in the expansion pass, depending on whether you own the shield or sword version of the game.
Update and pre-order now in the Nintendo eShop
An update of the game went online immediately after the presentation. With this it is later possible to exchange Pokémon from the expansion pass with friends without owning them. It is already downloadable and it brings a little new storyline with it: if the player goes to Brassbury train station after the update he will meet one of the new characters from the expansion pass. In addition, you then have the opportunity to catch a Galar Flegmon. However, it can only develop into a Galar lame with an item from the armor island and into a Galar lazy king with an item from the snow lands.
The pass is also available for pre-order now. If you treat yourself to the fun for €29,99, you will receive an outfit in the style of Pokémon Let's Go Eevee or Let's Go Pikachu, which can be used immediately. The content of the expansion will be available in late June 2020 (Part 1 - "The Armor of the Isle") and in Fall 2020 (Part 2 - "The Tundra of the Crown").
More information about the expansion pass is available on the official Pokémon Sword & Shield website.
