The publisher Ubisoft announced that a new update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available. This brings additional free content into play: A new game mode and Jomswikinger upgrades, even new skills and rewards are included. Two new unlockable buildings in the settlement are also part of the update - the Jomskai and the Jomswikingerhalle.
The second season, called Eastre, will begin in March with a first update that will bring a Feast in the Settlement, a new game mode that builds on Assassin's Creed Valhalla's core combat system, new gear and cosmetic items. Even though Assassin's Creed Valhalla also criticized after the launch had to take in, the action game turned out to be a thoroughly entertaining representative of the open world genre.
Major update: Vikings enjoy river raids
The river raids are probably the most exciting for many players. This is a permanent - and not just seasonal - game expansion. The repeatable game mode that enhances the looting experience in Assassin's Creed Valhalla Enriched includes, among other things, higher stakes raids with unique maps and rewards in which fans can plunder without affecting progress in the main game and the alliances in England.
In contrast to the original raid feature, crew members can even be lost, but only temporarily. This will happen if they are not resuscitated during the raid. A Joms Viking crew is also included: recruited Joms Vikings (created online by other players) are led by the player's personal Joms Viking boatswain.

Also part of the update is a new longship: According to Ubisoft, it will be a fully customizable longship that is exclusive to the new game mode and whose cargo space can be upgraded to bring back more resources from river raids.
The new Jomswikingerhalle can be upgraded to three levels in the first season. The higher the level of the hall, the more senior Jomswikings can be recruited. Joms Vikings now also have ranks, with the higher-rated Joms Vikings having higher survivability in river raids.
Fans can access the new game mode relatively quickly. After one of the first story elements in England - Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire - has been completed, a barracks built and the Jomsviking boatswain recruited, a new NPC named Vagn and his team of Jomsvikings appear who introduce the river raids game mode. The mode features three new river maps that are spread across the coasts of England and are full of places that promise big loot.
But that wasn't it, the mega-update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla contains a lot more. It brings new skills and rewards to the game:
- The armor of St. George and the great sword
- Three new skills hidden in monasteries
- Two new settlement buildings
- A set with new cosmetics for longship and players
The update for the River Raids game mode, part of the first season, is the latest addition to the Assassin's Creed Valhalla post-launch experience. In the course of 2021, there will be a multitude of new free content for all players who focus on the gameplay and the further development of the world, the French publisher also announced.
And one more thing: more information on Wrath of the Druids, the first expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla to be released in spring 2021, will be announced at a later date. So there is still enough for players to do in the rough Viking world in the medium term. What happens after that? That remains to be seen. The initial Game sales figures were good anyway.
