The release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the name of the latest offshoot from Ubisoft's Assassin series, can come. After the official announcement of the title, the French publisher giant will probably from now on regularly throw bits of information down the throats of the fans. We have summarized what is known so far about Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

It's official: the new offshoot from the Assassin series takes place in a Viking world. In view of the rumors that have been circulating on the Internet for a year, this was no longer a big surprise, but at least the setting seems unusual at second glance. Burly Vikings are not generally considered to be prototypes of silent assassins. Because the game series has already changed from a sneaking game to an action knockout over time, fighters from Valhalla also fit perfectly with Assassin's Creed - less deadly than poisoned daggers, sharpened two-handed axes are not.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Beat the English

The artwork, which the Australian artist Bosslogic created as part of the somewhat tough reveal event, indicates what Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be about: the Nordic warriors will probably meet medieval warriors from the European grasslands. Assassin's Creed Valhalla can be classified between 800 and 1050 AD, because during this period the North Men had military contact with the British Isles. Since Ubisoft explicitly mentions King Alfred the Great as the Anglo-Saxon ruler, the time of the setting can be narrowed down fairly precisely, namely from 871 to 899 AD. That ruler denounced the Vikings in their newly discovered homeland as infidels and started a war.

It is not yet known whether the new series part will later use the entire timeline up to the Battle of Hastings and thus the end of the Viking Age, or whether the developers at Ubisoft Montréal only depict part of the warlike episode between the Vikings and the British.

In any case, the main character seems to be pushing for open combat with his two-handed ax. The warrior and clan leader - Eivor is his name - will not be a real bully. The artwork shows the well-known assassin's blade on the Viking's left forearm - and the iconic weapon of the assassins is also used in the first trailer.

There will also be a multitude of customization options to give the character the right look: from the hairstyle to the Viking tattoo, a lot can be adjusted.

Viking ships play just as important a role in gameplay as the player's scouts: this time, instead of an eagle, it will probably be a raven. Ubisoft has already indicated how essential ships are for the gameplay: From their longship, players can pillage specific locations in order to gain riches and important resources.
