Every year at Whitsun, Messe Düsseldorf is transformed into the largest German-language anime and Japan expo. An important date for those interested in Japan, cosplayers and their fans. The event focus is on anime, cosplay, games, music and the latest scene trends. In addition, DoKomi offers a varied stage program with numerous artists, show acts and competitions. During this year's event on June 8th and 9th, visitors will be offered more events than ever before.
In 2009 the DoKomi started in a school with 1800 visitors. The event was founded by Andreas Degen and Benjamin Schulte, by fans for fans. Since then, the number of visitors and what is on offer have grown steadily. In 2018, the event was able to look forward to over 45.000 visitors, most of whom attended the DoKomi in colorful and creative costumes. According to the organizer, 50.000 visitors are expected for this year's Anime and Japan Expo, who should let themselves be carried away by the hustle and bustle in the halls of Messe Düsseldorf and in the rooms of the Congress Center. In advance, the DoKomi was voted the most popular convention in Germany for the third time in a row by the scene community.

The "Gaming Festival" is one of the newer offers at the convention. The aim here is to build a bridge between the gaming and streamer scene and the anime world. There will be numerous offers in a specially created hall. As a highlight, the providers of the streaming platform Twitch Streamer offer Meets & Greets, live panels and esports tournaments. But publishers such as Nintendo, Ubisoft, Koch Media and Gamigo will also come up with offers.
The J-Food Festival is supposed to provide the right culinary art during the event. A diverse range of dishes from Japanese cuisine is to be offered. The visitor can choose between innovative street food and typical dishes of Japanese cuisine. Here you should try and enjoy.
DoKomi in Düsseldorf opens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 20 p.m., on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. and on Saturday evening for the Cosplay Ball from 20 p.m. to 2 a.m. Admission to the evening event is from 19 p.m., separate tickets are required.
